Art - Portraits:
Drawing faces. We want to
eventually draw a portrait. In order to prepare we need to learn the skills to
sketching faces. We will need the
same style of pencil lines we used to create our flowers. As well develop the skills to draw
essential components of a portrait like eyes, nose, lips etc.
The focus today is how to draw a realistic eye (Tools; pencil, eraser,
black pencil crayon):

Today we are only going to work in our scrapbooks developing the skills
to sketch a portrait.
A finished eye will be handed in next week.
Lets emphasize that we are not tracing.
Here is an eye to sketch:
Your eye drawing is due Thursday December 22
The Nose:
The next item we want to practice drawing before our self portrait is the nose. Check out this video and practice:
Notice the use of shading and building up the shape of the nose. There is almost no solid pencil lines. Rather 4 simple solid strokes and then shading.
The tools you will need are a pencil, eraser, and black pencil crayon.
1. Sketch and pratice sketching noses in your scrap book. You can copy the nose from the video or use either one of the pictures.
2. Check in with teacher.
3. Begin good copy on card stock paper.
Due Monday January 16
The Lips and Mouth:
So do we draw the blue one ..??
ReplyDeleteMr.Cheney when is this due?
ReplyDeleteNo, you can draw your own eye, but the blue one is a good one.
ReplyDeleteDue on Thursday the 22nd of December
I tried to make the blue one its really hard because blue isn't used all around if you look closely there are many more color's used than just blue for example green. The green brings out the blue in the eye but the reason it was hard is because you have to mark the right shade of color in the right spot if you want it to look like that.. but over all its not bad i have to make my eye darker, more darker than it is already but i find when its dark it doesn't look that great it stats looking more cartoonie anyone have ideas to help me?
ReplyDeleteTry again, build up colour and shading by going over and over, rather then trying to get the right shade in one pencil stroke
ReplyDeletethe blue one is very hard.
ReplyDeletei think i can do the shading, but its the shapes, and the eye lashes that makes it hard.
can you put another video for other kinds of eyes ?
ReplyDeleteYes I will Vinay
ReplyDeletei made the blue eye!
