Math

Hello Team.

Although I don't teach math, I though adding a class math page could be a helpful spot for you to stay in touch and ask questions from your peers, or me, regarding math tasks.

I am including a link to a free Ontario Math on-line Tutor.  You can ask questions on the spot and get demonstrations on how to solve math questions.  the site is available 5 days a week between 5 - 9 (Sunday to Thursday)

here is the link, try it and post how it was (helpful, difficult, etc.):

    ReplyDelete
  60. @I don't get what you are saying Mr.Cheney

    ReplyDelete
  61. Its a compliment Lisa, It looked like you would not have the highest score, but you double checked Nicole's work and found a mistake.

    ReplyDelete
  62. As well, Lisa go and answer the latest Rebound question.

    ReplyDelete
  63. @Mr. Cheney @Bubbles Doesn't Lisa's 95 score also become elegible because it also has two __/__=__+or-__ equations instead of one __/__=__+or-__ and one __x__=__+or-__ equation?

    ReplyDelete
  64. on the heads up sheets it shows you can use / or x for both

I can't wait to see who prevails!

    ReplyDelete
  70. I did the set up you listed above in for my 1st try. I got 87.

    ReplyDelete
  72. @ nicole but you divided twice, and never multiplied

    ReplyDelete
  73. ok Nicole, that puts you in the lead. Lisa its back in your court to respond.

    ReplyDelete
  74. @Prabhjot, I checked, Nicole's first solution is great and correct.

    Can anybody score a perfect?

but as we stand right now. Nicole is the next Pyramid challenger. I can sense Lisa and Nicole both really want to go after the Champs

    ReplyDelete
  75. This comment has been removed by the author.

  81. Prabhjot, did score a 91, but Lisa recorded her 91 first, because she posted inbtween the time that Prabhjot posted, made a mistake and corrected.

    Lisa 91
    Prabhjot 91
    Nicole 87

    ReplyDelete
  82. Awesome effort on this Heads Up.

    This is level 4 blogging.

Nicole and Prabhjot have been electric this weekend with your blogging. 4+++

    ReplyDelete

  85. Great try Sonali, but 4x5 = 20, so you have to redo that line

    ReplyDelete
  86. my bad sorry i messed up on this one it's just my whole sheet is full of heads up equations and its confusing

    ReplyDelete
  87. 14/14=13-12 55 pts

    4x5=9-11 29 pts

    15-7=8 30 pts

    Total score: 93 points

    ReplyDelete
  88. Sonali your score is 63 did you add it up and divide it with the numbers you didn't use because when I did it I got 63 recheck

    ReplyDelete
  89. and if so Sonali, that would be 91.

That means Lisa is still winning, you will have to beat her score. But great effort.

    ReplyDelete
  90. never mind it's 91 and bubbles it's not 63 it's 91 you don't divide it with the numbers you didn't use you subtract it

    ReplyDelete
  91. Never mind you have the same as me and prabjot

    ReplyDelete
  92. Yes 3 tied at 91, but Lisa was first, but only 30 minutes or so before Prabhjot.

    ReplyDelete
  93. When are we going to do the pyramid challenge?

    ReplyDelete
  94. This is so confusing I can't seem to get a higher mark than 91

    ReplyDelete
  95. They are tough numbers, and its not always possible to get a complete solution. It may be that 91 is the best that can be done.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I don't think I can find anymore IM NOT SAYING IM QUITING ( because I never quit I always try my hardest (: ) But I thnk 91 is the best that can be done.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I think so as well Sonali. But many of you really took up the challenge. That is great blogging.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  126. ___+___= ____

    ___-___= ____

    ___x___= ___+ or -____

    ___/____= ___+ or -____

    3, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 11, 11, 11, 13, 15, 16, 16, 18

Highest score at 8:00 is the challenger in Pyramid

    ReplyDelete
  128. Solve for x

    2(7 + 3x) - 1=4

What is the population total of Canada

    What is the wealthiest Province

    ReplyDelete
  129. 2(7+3X)-1=4
    14+6x-1=4
    14+6X-1=4
    14+6X=4+1
    14+6X=-5
    6X=5-14
    6X/6=-9/6

    X=1.5

I found out that the total population of Canada is 34,030,589 (July 2011 ) but it has been a year so im thinking the number may have increased by 3-4 thousand people

The wealthiest province is Alberta , Newfoundland and Labrador place 2nd and
    Saskatchewan is 3rd.

    ReplyDelete
  130. x equals 5/20 or 4
the population of Canada is between about 34.5 million
    wealthiest province Alberta

    ReplyDelete
  131. Aww I'm late again how come I didn't see this

    ReplyDelete
  132. 3(3 +6X) - 5x= 18

    latest Pyramid challenge

    ReplyDelete
  133. 3(3 +6x) - 5x= 18
    3(3+ 54) - 45=18
    9 + 54- 45 =18
    63-45 =18

    ReplyDelete
  134. 3(3+6X)-5X=18
i multiplied 3 and 6X in the bracket by the first 3 9+18X-5=18
18X-5X=18-9 i brought over the 9 to the another side and the addition sigh turned into the subtraction sigh.
so 18-5=13X=9 so its 13X/13=9/13 as a fraction its X=9/13 or if its decimal its 0.6923076923.....
