Hey Team, we have talked about this before in class. How rules and regulation go against Motivation, Wisdom, Intellect, and Creativity.
Here is a LECTURE from TED.com on how creativity is being neglected in school.
Watch and Comment.
How do you feel about your creative energy at school? Is it being enhanced or hurt? Be specific!

UPDATE:
Another Video
https://www.ted.com/talks/lang/en/elizabeth_gilbert_on_genius.html
The main rule we have in school is to do our best. We've all been taught to avoid mistakes, and to do things right, the right way. And only that way because there is always going to be one right answer (for example math) And then there are subjects that go against this, it goes against what we've been taught. The arts of course, theres music, dance and visual arts, where there isn't a right answer, but its where creativity is needed. In school we've gotten so used to use our intellect and only our intellect, we've been taught to think. But never have we been taught to be creative and never had been taught to be motivated.
ReplyDeleteI think that this is just the way the education system is, we have all lost our creativity and motivation. When we were little, we all had big dreams of becoming something and we never did limit ourselves, we had a type of ambition/motivation and also our creativity level was high, we had a lot of imagination and we've been taught to use it right? Then how come as we get older we start to learn that there is one correct answer only, and you must get that answer otherwise you have failed, and failing is bad.
In Grade eight, we have subjects like math, science, language, music, history/geography.... These are the subjects that we mostly have on a daily basis 3/5 of these dont need creativity in order to get a high mark. Math especially isnt a subject where creativity is needed, because in grade eight we learn formulas and learn one correct way to solve a problem and all have to get the same answer. Not very diverse is it? Then we have music where we all have different registers in our voices for singing, we all stay with a beat different ways, we all have our own creative way in music class. Thats a diverse class.
I feel like we have opportunities to be creative at school but only at certain times, and creativity should be with us always. Also its gotten so messed up that i remember last year in ms.jaffers class we were learning art, and what we had to do is write a poem to describe how we felt when seeing a certain photo. I remember asking ms.jaffar how high the cliff was and how big a person would be if they were in that picture. Ms.Jaffar looked at me and said well, art isn't about being precise and exact, but to be creative and she asked me to tell her how i felt when seeing this picture. I couldnt answer the question because i was too busy thinking about how i should describe the picture acurately. Maybe we should go back to kindergarden and start finger painting again because i think we could start to get our creativity back. Its really sad when us kids have lost such an important attribute. And I would blame the education system.
if i can connect this to our uniform debate if you want to express your feeling through your art just like you want to express you feeling through your clothes you can be bullied for instance in pink day someone wanted to express their feelings through wearing pink and that boy got bullied but now if this was art than what if you are bad in art but you like it would you still get bullied?
Deletei agree with your statement about school making you think that there's either a right or wrong. nothing in between.
Delete@ aqib
Deletei agree with what you said,
but art doesnt neccisarily have to be what makes you creative. it can be anything.
I personally think that the creativity skills and levels are being hurt each and every day, as we are being told to do this and that.We do things to the exact extent and as we keep doing these there are punishments that are pulling us down and down.
ReplyDeleteAs in this speech we see that he talks of it too that we are all going through the same process and are losing our "freedom". Even in the things that use allot of creativity like art and music are being "corrected" we are told to do things that are not a sign of creativity we cannot set our creativity free.
As we have seen and talked about things like math, English, science are on a daily basis while the subjects using more creativity such as art and music are more once a week and we loss the opportunity of using our "creative side".
personally i do not think you will lose your creativeness if you have once a week of arts
DeleteWell I would think it does it is such as sports if you play once a week for 25min I don't think you will get that far.
Delete@am17; Don't you think that it would be better if we had art 2 or 3 times a week instead of 1?
DeleteHaving less time of other subjects, due drag your skills down some people don't get better unless they have more time to work on something. .-.
Delete@ rohan
Deletei agree with what you said. you cannot get better or express yourself if what you like is inly once a week. and sometimes, we dont even have our favourite subject in a week. unless your favourite subject/your favourite way to express yourself is math, english, fench, and maybe even science. other subjects are pushed more over to the side.
i think that we are getting hurt on our creativity side however we are not getting hurt that much
ReplyDeletewhile i was growing up i noticed when i was little all my kindergarten classmates either thought they loved, hated or kind of like art ,music and those creative subjects .
personally i did not like these creative subjects instead i liked the main subjects for instance math and science. later on i found out that there is an art in everything like in sports and other things i also found out that if you are good at something it usually automatically turns into your favorite hobby i found this out because i noticed that whoever liked art was amazing in it and for people like me i am not that well in art that is why i do not like it
so my point is that if you like art so much why are people panicking so much that there is not that much art classes than math so in stead of panicking think outside of the box and probably after school do some art or in you school make an art club and get more art
so you can say now that your creative side is not getting hurt.
do you think if you lack liking creative subjects such as art and such would you think it brings down your creativity.
DeleteCan't be reversed. Cause I think that some people love one thing and at the same time suck at it. For eg: I love to play badminton but i am not so good at it I want to get better.
Deleteno i do not like art but i like art in sports and everywhere else
Deletewhat do you mean art in sports can you briefly explain that?
Deletehowever you will get better if you practice and you will be better than me because i do not like badminton
Deletewhat creativity do you think is endured in sports.
Deletesure i can say that if you use your brain you can say that art is in everything however you are talking about sports so i will talk about that.
Deletein every sport there are plays and you can change that play so it can work for you so that is art because you have to be creative
What about if we only had gym once a week?
Deletei think in sports it depends on how you play like for example in badminton it depends on how you throw the birdie back
Deletei would stick to what i said before because you have to work after schoool

ReplyDeletei think school isn't killing creativity because if like to show our creativity in high school we could take courses like art drama music.i think it even depends on what you want to be for example if you want to be a doctor math and science would help but if you want to be musician you would need to take music.in addition i think it even depend on the person you are if your really creative you would find a way to show creativity in every subject like for example in math the way you solve a math problem
ReplyDeleteshow your creativity for example you could solve by using pics or words.
i agree with you because it does depend on your interest
Deleteyes if you have a interest in a subject you would find a way to express yourself.
Delete@ sana I agree with about how it depends on your interest but it is possible as the person who gave this lecture said that this interest can be lost in the process of finding it with deep interest. you might really like art but you aren't good at it and the school isn't giving time to art classes so you end up loosing it then enhancing/improving it.
DeleteI think we are being condition to use different extents of creativity for different subjects. But in general I think our creativity is being more hurt then enhanced. Now, we're mostly focused on exact measurements and answers. We're pro at that. But when it comes to writing , art or free speech we have trouble. Maybe its because we don't practice it enough.
ReplyDeleteFor example English and Math. We are so used to solving the problem one way and the other way is incorrect. This can be highlighted in many aspects of Math. But when it comes to something like English, writing something of your choice we have trouble being creative/ thinking outside of the box. I'm not saying that only subjects like English require these skills but we're conditioned into thinking that. You can use the skill of creativity in Math, finding a new way to solve the problem.
We need to stop thinking so critically and start thinking more creatively. Younger kids aren't so caught up in the result but the process. I think we need to think out of the box, follow their footsteps or we'll forget how to use our creativity.
if all these years we have been following the same academic ways (not much art) than how come there are so many great amazing and famous artist still
Deleteit is probably because they thought outside the box and they worked after school and they were committed to there passion
Maybe art ways their way of expressing themselves, like some us use writing or sports. I agree, they also worked really hard to perfect their passion.
Deleteso your saying English should be practiced more? but that just kills more of creativity because we don't want to be writing speeches and essay? we want to be writing something different because things like writing does get boring.Where ever how ever all we do is writing
DeleteIf English is your passion, then sure practice it more. And don't just think creativity is Art, music, etc. Creativity is highlighted in everything you do. I do think Writing has a high opportunity for creativity.
DeleteI think school does kill creativity because when we were young we were taught to let our imagination flow and we would demonstrate our learning through art but now we are older and the only thing we have to focus on is getting higher grades and improving. Sometimes we need to be creative because we get bored learning the same thing over and over again in the same way. Kids like us get distracted or lose interest if all the teacher is doing is talking, I think kids learn best by doing and not really by talking.
ReplyDeletesome kids actually can prefere the traditional way of learning where the teacher is just talking.
Deleteyes that depends on how the student learn for example are u a visual learner or a logic learner.
Deletewe were taught a traditional way from the begging but then why do some of us still find it boring we should be used to it now ?
Deletei agree with Donna also if the teacher does not talk than how will these little kid learn the main subject
Deleteyes that's true Donna but I'm just saying that kids learn best by doing things rather than just listening to the teacher talk.
Delete@aqib by doing!!!!! but I agree with you the kids do need a little talking
DeleteI think creativity is getting hurt in school because in school, parents want their kids to academicly do well. Creativity isnt given much thought to because no one really finds it important.I think people can be creative with anything (in art, there is so much you can do or drama, writing etc.) In school even in art, we're always told what to do and how which really kills creativity.
ReplyDeleteelementary school might be killing creativity but not high schools are not because you get to chose your own subjects.
DeleteBut by the time you get to high school your creativity is probably lost because of elementary school.Creativity should be given more attention.
DeleteI agree with you. Creativity does hold around the same weight as the others. In today's world, new jobs are being invented everyday. New jobs require much more than the traditional skills. You can probably get a Graphic designer more than an Accountant.
DeleteSo your saying if we do have art we don't get to do what we want? Its always up to the teacher? But then don't you think if the teacher lets us do what we want we will just lose focus in things so instead of really working we would be fooling around? In my opinion teachers should make a path way as in the trailer we were told what site to use and what our topic was the rest we got to do on our own
Deletemy creativity is not lost
Deletei don't think we have that much arts because in our future there is not much jobs for art and you will be poor however alot of jobs for math, english and science
DeleteSo are you saying that there are less paying jobs and acess to jobs that are related to art or any under the arts
Delete@ aqib you know how you said that you have arts in other subjects as-well. Than how come on our report cards there is a category called "the arts" and undeer it is only art, drama, dance, music? Second of all do you agree with the report card?
Delete@am17, there actually alot of jobs including art but you have to be really creative like maybe a designer if there creative and good then they just might get famous
Deletei agree with janat. there are many jobs where you get paid for your creativity.youre saying that your creativity cant get you well paid jobs actually a designer can get paid more than a mathematician.
DeleteI think that school is "hurting" the students creativity. The higher and higher class we go, the less creative we go.
ReplyDeleteDrama and art are ones of the things we showcase our creativity. Some other people show their creativity by other subjects but ht e higher grades we go, drama and art become less and less. In high school you get to choose if you want it or not. In kindergarten, creativity is showcased everywhere. Even in work eg; using clouds to count.
In the speech he explained how some people have their own way of expressing their own creativity. Like the girl who started dancing when her mom and the teacher went outside to examine her. That girl does her learning and show her intention in the way of dancing. She couldn't stay still. Moving around were her way of productivity.
My point is that schools need to start looking into the students and find what they are best at put it into an advantage.
I agree but if they cant see what the interests of every child because every child is different and has different interests. In a school, where there are so many kids I don't think its possible.
DeleteAt least they can give it a chance, can't they?
DeleteThey could but don't you think it would be really hard because even in our class we all have different opinions and different interests.
Deletei agree but sometimes the teacher won't talk to a kindergarten because some kids can not talk at kindergarten
DeleteI think school does kill creativity because school is always been about getting good grades making sure you are able to pass high school with those marks it has always been about that nothing else. As an example there was a movie called 3 idiots in the movie there was a guy he had created a helicopter with his two hands but he failed because his grades weren't good enough to pass engineering school they thought about his grades but what about what he created ? all of that was forgotten so he committed suicide but that school wasn't about inventing new things it wasn't about hand on it was always about making sure you were able to pass with the marks.
ReplyDeleteKids like us lose interest in subjects if its always just talking lets say history people lose interest if its always just talking or reading out of the book lets get creative! watch videos make a video of your own to show you understand like our class if you go on the history blog we have raps and fun videos that why we pay attention.
Why do people like our class so much its because we work hands on its about our mark but also about the work we do and example would be the trailer it so much fun to make it and work with it. Reading and writing improve our skills a bit but hands on improve more. It should be about being able to experiment new things.
That's true the work we do in class is hands on. But, is our class going to continue into high school? If you were in high school how would you keep your creativity level high? If you can say that.
Delete@tabish:in my opinion it wont continue because it really depends on the teacher so all of the fun and creativity we are having now wont continue on high school because as i said before high school is always about marks , are you grades good enough to pass? Well you can extend things so instead of just writing find a different form .Take part in activities for example black history ,Asian heritage if you have a passion of taking pictures or making movies join or ask so you can get creative and plus you get to choose your courses so you have an option on what you think is best for you it isn't like middle school where you have to take everything rather then fun activities
DeleteWell according to the video our creativity is stymied by the education system. Our brains at a very young age is creative in a way adults will never understand because of the way they were raised. The human brains capacity will never be understood. I think in terms of creativity we have failed to even notice that we have it. Our focus on math, is exponentially greater than our focus in Music, Dance and Drama. Maybe it's because music, dance and drama aren't one of the things important to our report cards and our futures.
ReplyDeleteEvery body needs to be a doctor, everyone wants to be a lawyer, everyone wants to be an engineer. But, has anybody ever thought about becoming a graphic artist or designer? It hurts to see the amount of boring jobs out there that require no creativity. It's even society, art and creative jobs are being payed lower and lower.
Now their growing up saying I want to be a doctor, It's good they have a goal but creation is even being stymied at a young age. What ever happened to kids wanting to be firefighters and policemen? But has the education system really accomplished anything in terms of creativity.
In conclusion we should have a more positive approach and aspect when it comes to Drama, Dance and Art. Maybe we should have more time for Art, Drama and Dance like we have Math. Not as much but, we will eventually grow into it.
I'd say school somewhat enhances you're creativity.
ReplyDeleteI say that school enhances your creativity because of uniform and dress-code and what I'm going to say is that, what I'm going to be saying is going t be related to the debate we had on uniform (dress-code)
I as a student doesn't like dress-code because, it's another way to try to make all students look the same and its not what we look for as human beings we look for people that are different, that's where creativity kicks in; if we were to wear no uniform it would be a world full of brightness. Due to the fact that no one would be the same unless you wanted to be the same.
I do think that creativity is being lost in our education system as we grow older, if you look back at when we were all in kindergarten we were more creative and had huge imaginations, compare then and now, subjects like math, science, history is taught almost everyday not that they are not important but its taking over our creative, imaginable side we had when we were young
ReplyDeleteI feel that subjects like art, music, dance, etc. things that can best express our creativity be taught on a daily basis for us not to loose or weaken it,
But i'm not saying that we should stop learning subjects like math, science etc because they too are important subjects but don't involve that much creative skill because everything is mostly formula and there's always a right answer
What do you think us students can do to add creativity in our everyday subjects and activities?
Deletei think that are creativity is being trap because schools are taking that away from us some of or subjects in school have creativity but not the creativity we would like to apply to are work and understandings as we get older we lose all of this creativity and that's what makes us different because it can lead to making iPods, cars, devices yet not be made. He was mentioning that as we grow older in high school every step of the way we are losing are unique way of thinking and i do agree u think when we come home from school we have time creativity but we dont because we have homework we each has something else to do and that also minimize the time we have school takes over 6 hours a day 5 days a week.
ReplyDeletei feel like are subjects for ex. art, music, dance,or sometimes even English can help for people whose creativity are expressed in each of these subjects but not everyones creativity is expressed in these subjects and thats what takes it away from us each of us id different has different talents its just we need to find what we like and what were good at
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletethe schools are breaking down the image we wanted to be when we grew up. our creativity had no limit and our imagination use to touch the sky. we all had such dreams that now we think are crazy. this is because the amount of creativity and imagination is dropping lower and lower.
ReplyDeleteschools believe that math,language,history/geo, have more value and are more important. we all are taught that there is only 1 right answer and we have to do in a certain way or we will fail. as donna said, we cant look outside the box, because living inside the box is reality and it is the only right way, you look outside you will fail.
Well, what's your opinion on the fact that education is the only place we can learn, where else are you gonna learn? And if you could change the education system how would you change it, why?
Deleteit is possible to improve you skills outside of school but that is if you have deep ineterst, but by the time you think about it you might not have that ineterest any more. also we are taught in a way that we are use to being in side of the box and may just like it that way (since other people think that certain things arent important any more)
DeleteThis perspective reminds me of the super human theory that we had discussed about our generations teaching skills are partially biased because they have made one right answer and the way we have to get the answer is strictly the way the teacher has learned is to a disability to us because some people don't have the capabilities of the example of what we have to do and that will maybe even make us lose our chances to be great.
ReplyDeleteIt's just like one pathway leads to the exit well really if you think about it it's just not like that.
Think of a cave the exit is not as glorified as one path it always has another path that leads to success or failure. That is a product of how you did it with a intellectual idea or a non thought over idea. That will be a product of why you chose those ways.
Kids would be doing better if they got to chose their own pathways. This generation is trying to make the young the "super humans".
Take a look back at Steve Jobs he has dropped out of college but he has been the most successive because he got tired of the way that he was learning everything. Then he did it his own way and leaded to success.
I think it is being hurt as my overall perspective because trying to go over the human capabilities of one.
I also kind of find the video biased because all these perspectives are from the adults and they don't know the type of treatment we are getting as a child and having the adult say so just doesn't feel right.
DeleteIf we threw a kid in there and have them talk it would be a totally different subject.
As a adult says it then its a huge craze to a younger audience but the kid would have a equalized opinion to the younger audience.
I agree with you. One of the best ways to learn is hands on working and you also get to experience something new. Kids need to do things in different ways and not just one thing all the time. Lets say a teacher is teaching math and all she or he is doing is talking that is just going to be boring and the students would easily get distracted but if they are actually doing something like hands on work then they are less likely to get distracted.
ReplyDeletei thought that the video was very interesting, and it was true that people do lose their creativity while they are getting older.
ReplyDeletei liked the example given about the dancer, and what people may consider a bad, thing, it may actually be a good thing, but people are limmiting you on what you can do, so you lose that creativity you have.
to me, i think that our creativity is still expressed in our writing, or any other part of school,(and outside of school) but i think that we are being limitted on what we can do with our creativity. especially at school. like donna said in math, there's either a right or wrong.
like ken robinson said: "If you’re not prepared to be wrong, you’ll never come up with anything original.”
but you can be creative on your strategy to find an answer.
but i think that this is also being taken away. i have a personal expierience with this. in the begining of the year, we were doing multiplication in math, and i had my own formula to find the answers. and it worked. but ms steer said that i had to follow the rule she had stated, and i couldnt do my own because it was " an incorrect way" to find the answer.
i think school has the biggest impact on our lives. right now, we spend most of our time in school.
so this impacts us on how creative we are at home too. our limit in school makes us also have an automatic limit at home too.
First of all, School loves to take away our creativity. It's been like this for some time. School likes to make us closed minded, and focus one only one thing. When were learning math, were going to do math the way they thought us. When we write stories in English, we have to write a story the way they thought us. Even if you have a awesome idea during class, don't do anything because the teacher might think your passing notes, when your only writing down an idea that you just thought of. Yes, I understand that teachers what us to focus on our work , but come on. We need a break sometimes. It's good to focus on one thing for about 30 minutes, but we shouldn't focus on one thing longer than an hour. We all need breaks. Why? So you can think! So you can process all this new information! So we can think of some idea's! Once we thought, we can come back to these idea's & maybe do those idea's. They can help us think.
ReplyDeleteAs I was writing this, I took about 2 breaks, just to know what I am writing about & how it will look like. I know this might not be the best answer ever, but at least I know that it took time for me to know what I'm writing & i know what I wrote.
Coming back, People should notice what they are doing in life there are some people that don't know what there doing. It might work for them it might not. People rather be lazy & on the X-BOX, don't get me wrong, I love my X-BOX & I love my iphone, but there are times where we should say, STOP! sometimes we need to focus on our work & our future. It's good to sometimes just be in a room by yourself & just think. Think about what you wanna do in life, think about everything. Have a plan ready & even better, have a back-up plan.
Just like Brian Nugent said the example of building your own house. Even little things count everywhere. Those 30 minutes not playing the violin, you just lost learning one song. Those 20 minutes of not practicing soccer, could of helped you learn a new trick.
Is the stereotype of practicing and working hard a guarantee that your gonna be on the soccer, football, basketball team? Or do you need to extend a bit more than just practice?
Delete@ olga
Deletei dont think that schools love taking away our creativity, but its in the board, and teachers teach the way their teachers teach. and i think no one really cared about creativity, until recently. ( around a decade or so)
It's not a grantee, but it will make you better in what your doing. Therefore will help you increasing your chances of going to games with the school, winning trophies
Deletewhos orange juice?
DeleteI think the creativity in school is being "hurt" because there aren't enough chances for kids to show that they're creative because you have music and dance 2 times a week and math and English every single day and in my opinion subjects like Math and English stun creativity because there is a wrong answer and a wrong way to do things but in Drama Art And Music youre free to pretty much do things how ever you want which builds creativity
ReplyDeleteHow about your sketch and self portrait? Can you really just do it any way you want?
DeleteOther than those subjects, what other thing do you think students show creativity in? Dress-code?
DeleteIn a way I do think that school is killing creativity and at the same time I think its not killing creativity. If we wanted to show our creative side we could do art classes or something like that or as Sana said in high school we could take courses like art drama music.
ReplyDeleteDo you think we can gain creativity back? If so how? Is creativity like money, lose and gain? Can that be used as a symbol?
Deletebut what about now when were in middle school?
DeleteWhy do you think school is killing creativity?
DeleteWhen we lose our creativity at a smaller age then we would probably already have our interest.Like if we're used to math that we become really good at it then in high school your probably going go take subjects like math and science.
DeleteBut will allot of our creative side be lost once we get to high school ?
DeleteWhat if we don't want to show our creative side? Because of a fear of bullying and judgement what do you have to say about that?
DeleteAnd what about in college will your "creative" side be going away as there are very strict rules?
DeleteIn high school they treat art and drama as "low" subjects with the least amount of time to work on , do you think that is right? And if you not would you go to a school of arts.
DeleteI think that we are so used to be solving a solution one way and the others would be called or inferred incorrect. I'm saying that we are now used to the way of finding one instead of thinking outside the box and finding it's result in a different way. Also I think that's what the education system is doing.
ReplyDeleteSome have the skill set but not the grades. I can refer this to what Neha said with the connection of the movie the three idiots.
Who is the underdog?
Deleteabeeshan
Deleteaccording to the video i now think we are stripped of our creativity.like imagine, your not afraid of making mistakes, and then when you go to school, your creativity is gone. you have to be right on every question, and if you aren't, you would get a low mark.everybody would be creative and wont care if your judged, but school teaches us out of creativity like he said.
ReplyDeletepeople might want to be a doctor, a lawyer or some thing of that sort, only because of the pay. people arent becoming artists now because they are not known, and the pay is not as high so i think we should bring up periods for dance drama and music
do u think each subject is equally important?
Deleteno, but it should be atleast 5 times a week, like drama and dance are barely once a week, and music is like 3 or 4
DeleteI agree because before like he said in the video we werent afraid of being wrong which brought creativity because if we forgot something we still had a creative answer now were scared of being wrong
DeleteI do think that our creativity can still be expressed in many different ways such as in sports and our writing. I do think at school our creativity is limited because it seems that we have more math, language, French and science more than we have Art. In fact every single day we have math and only Art once a week -_-.
ReplyDeletei think that all this talk about creativity is more of a recent debate, and i think that almosts no one cared about this a few decades ago. its more new.
ReplyDeletealso like the uniforms article, the talk about creativity wouldnt have been under consideration until now.
I think creativity in school is about the teacher making the path and we building on by that i mean the teacher give you the topic the pathway to go on to but then once all that is done you want to build on with the creativity in yourself so basically adding on tot he work that has been done already
ReplyDeleteCreativity is always on the brink, or always just over the hump, its the next step, we however seldom go for it or take, rather we are complacent. Teachers, Coaches, Peers, Yourself always set you up for creativity for a chance to do something amazing. It comes down to are you intellectual, wise, motivated enough to see the opportunity and go for it.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Elizabeth Gilbert 100%. She is speaking the whole truth. People/Artist's are getting more lazy. For one artist, it takes around 5 people to write a song. It took 5 people to write the song 'Baby' by Justin Bieber & it took one person to write the song 'Keep Ya Head Up' by Tupac Shakur. This wasn't so long ago. The actual person singing the song, should write the song. I'm not saying other people can't sing other people's music, but if the artist shouldn't take all credit of a song that took 5 people to write. Just as she said, if you want to dance then dance. Ole !
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteI agree with you and Elizabeth because that isn't fair that all the artists are doing is singing all the song and they get all the credit for "making" such a good song, which isn't true because the singer didn't write the song.
Delete@ Tushar it's olga
Delete@THIS IS ME ..
DeleteYes, sometimes the songs aren't even good.
On the second video with Elizabeth Gilbert, Im thinking about what everyone wanted to be when we were all younger, we all wanted to be something more on the arts, like either an artist, a dancer a musician... and then im thinking about how many people wanted to be a writer. Im thinking its academic, not so much on the creative side, but of course every form of writing whether its an article or a childrens book, everyone has their own way of giving the information or telling a story or even sharing thoughts and explaining feelings like in poems. Everything about writing is creative. A person who doesn't have one bit of creativity cannot write, if they do they will be writing in jot notes stating facts in standard computer language or something...
ReplyDeleteI wanted to be a writer, i didnt know how much creativity was needed.
Youre right i agree because now days they have concert and tours and they pretty much just care bout publicity but back then they really didnt and they didnt have Concert Tours so i guess that can be a reason
DeleteI agree with Elizabeth. I think everybody has creative nature inside of us, it is just are job to enhance it and bring it out. There is also a lot of pressure on you to out do yourself or even maintain it after you reach success. I also agree with her when she shared about just doing everything to your best and if it comes, it comes. I thought it was interesting that O'lay started from chanting God.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Elizabeth because she is talking about how a creative mind can cause stress because of all the effort put into the work, as in making sure that things can fit in with the work and having complete package. It is difficult because you wont always have the ideas at the right moment it takes time and effort to think and get ideas as in the poet she would be outside and randomly the words for her poem would come.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I also think that being successful is sometimes more stressful than not being successful.
DeleteI think it was a a pretty amazing video. But, what eluded my thoughts was the fact that I wasn't feeling the connection, I don't know was I supposed to? The video got boring at times. None the less caught my attention when it came to the dancer part.
ReplyDeleteI'm Muslim, the media shows me terrorist. I pray to God, not Allah. Allah means God. And that really caught me because i know my parents speak to me about it a lot, religion in my family is a big thing. It got to me because I didn't know that Ole was in fact Allah.
i thought that the second video was interesting, but i didnt agree to it a lot. i agree that now people are put into more pressure and that if they mess up, they cant blame someone/something else.
ReplyDeletebut i still couldnt relate to this much. i couldnt relate much because i left as though it didnt have scientific facts. just like she said, a lot of people wont agree because science doesnt follow this.
but it could be because im not an artist in any form, and i know that where im creative, i dont feel like this either. but it could be for some people that they can relate because they could be more creative.
but i also do agree with god making you great.
since you said that creative minds can cause stress because of all the effort put into the work, your basically saying that it isn't good to be creative????
ReplyDeleteI would say that Elizabeth Gilbert is speaking the truth about creativity. Like Donna said we all wanted to become something more creative like, actors and artists; wouldn't the harder things to accomplish be more creative?
