John and Will are moving down the stairwell of the South tower. They are at the 82 floor (9:17am) and discover the way is blocked!
What has blocked the way? What should they do next?

i think the way is blocked by rubble like crushed desk or parts of the ceiling.i think john and will would try to move some of the rubble out of the way so they can pass threw.

DeleteI don't think they should try to lift the rubble out of the way because time is precious. Maybe they should go to the other side of the floor and go down those stairs.

Deletethe ceiling is very heavy cement and so thick and strong that if heavy load as in people and computers stand on in it wouldnt break so it would be very heavy

Delete@buttercup i agree with mr.cheney they neveer knew that the south tower was going to get hit to so how can they know that the tower they are standing would collaspe.
Delete@ buttercup the other floor was wet because the sprinklers were activated, and the floor was a bit broken up so there would be a way to go but both moving the rubble and trying to get through the other floor would be hard and dangerous.

i agree with Sana i do think that what blocked the way is maybe desk pieces of the plane and other office supplies, but i do think they will be able to pass as they have gotten thus far and his dad is very confident and he will find a way through this.

yes confidence is finding a path down because with confidence he knows not to just stay on his floor and wait for firemen but he has the courage to go down and take a risk.

i think that confidence and finding a path is connected because if confidence you could do any thing you want it also depends on the person because if they don't have confidence in them self's to get down they wouldn't try or do anything about it but john he has confidence in himself to find a way throw and will should have the same

DeleteI think there's a wall blocking the way. John said before they made the walls so the fire would contain to that one floor and not spread as fast. So maybe the stairs just stop so the fire won't spread. I think they should go across the other floor to pick up the rest of the stairs from and just continue heading down.

DeleteBut jet fuel and water mixed wont light on fire because of the water but like shelby said i dont think the sprinklers could take the fire out because when fire fighter fight fires they have it takes them hours with fire trucks and fire hoses which are more effective then sprinklers
Deletei think the way could be blocked by huge pieces of metal and lights that fell from the cieling.i think this is true because there wouldent be a fire because it is still a couple of floors away and it couldent be wood because the building has no wood so i highly think it could be big chunks of metal

DeleteI think the way is blocked by smoke, or fire, because they are going down meaning that they are coming closer to the place of impact, but if that really happens i think what going to happen next is that Will's dad or a firefighter will find them and help them escape

A firefighter could not be up there when the plane just hit. Sure there on there way but not that early.

DeleteThey were going down the stair well and when they came to the floor there was water coming out that stopped them becuase the fire sprinklers were on so they couldn't go anywhere.

DeleteI think that the plane parts will block the way, but also desks and other office things will block the entrance. I'm pretty sure that they will get out. How? When Mr.Cheney was reading, I pictured a gap between all those things and it was tight, but Will and his dad will be able to get through it. If that wouldn't work then there is a way that William will be able to fit in the corner of the railing and start removing things so his dad would be able to get through. Also, a way is that they take another stair well.

DeleteI think the stairway was blacked off by a plane part. Because the plane hit around the eightieth floor and the plane is pretty big, a commercial airliner. A Boeing 767-222 2 engines on each wing. So that would hit a very big chunk out of those floors and that's what mainly I think is blocking their way.
ReplyDeleteNow what they should do is different from what actually is going to happen, not everyone was saved. But, what I think they should do is, continue on. Even though they don't know the building are going to collapse within about 42 minutes. They should keep going without any interruption but, that's not going to happen because Will's dad is a fire ward. Either way continue down and away from the planes damage it hit it at an angle.

I agree with tabish. The plane hit on an angle, and maybe they are on the side tht didn't get much damage, but still enough to make it harder to get out.
dont you think the plane disintegrated because of the explosion and how much fuel the plane had the plane wasnt flying slow it was flying fast enough that the plane might had disintegrated with everyone in it and with everyone that was on the floor where the plane had crash how will they get through or whats a different solution

but they are 82 floors up and they arent taking the elevator, also just about 40 mins untill it collapses so there might not be a way out in this one

DeleteI think Will and John will get out of the tower eventually, I think they will find a way because John has leadership qualities and will find a way to get out in a situation like this, he will do something similar to what he did when he found out the north tower was hit. Unlike the people on the top floors, they will most likely not make it out.

And I don't think anyone that went to the top made it out. The buildings collapsed so fast. Like Sana said on the we all fall down tab, the buildings went down as though it was scheduled for demolishing.

But you also need determination. (you must want to get down to safety and do whatever it takes).
I think nothing was blocking them it was just an empty space where the plane crashed the stairs where gone because of the explosion that had happened when the plane crashed. I think they should try to get past the debris and try to get down because they have time and they it's only 9:17 and it takes 40 minutes to get to the bottom by the time they reach it's 9:57.

in this link, it says that the impact of the second plane hit the south tower at around the 77th and 85th floor. at the 82nd floor, the impact had to be very close, and the rubble may be stopping their way, or there aren't any stairs there. maybe the stairs were turned into rubble, and they had no way to get down.
i think that there still could be a way down, and they may also try to move rubble to get through.

So that could be a possibility.
The people at the top maybe feel safe and secure.
Because they don't know that the building will fall.
but in the video they were walking down because those were the people under the crash that could of went down because they saw fire-fighters climbing up to where the fire was.

Dont you think most of the firefighters would be at the North Tower because it was hit first and possibly all of the firefighters were there to help evacuate and help everyone out.
