Hello Team,
Sarah seems convince that Katie has ratted her, Rob, and Dan out. How else could they have been caught so fast! Katie seems distraught that this has happened to her.
Did Katie's guilty conscious make her turn them in?
Was Mr. Teacher that good and discovering their plan?
Was Rob's nervous energy give it away?
Did Jake "SET" them up?
Tell me what you think happened:
No,I dont think Katie turned them in because i dont think shes that type of person and if she did , we as the readers would have known because she would have admitted to herself .
ReplyDeleteI think mr.teacher already had his suspicions about all the students and probably checked all the test but mayybe he was used to cheating , so he go well at it and when a few people have the same answers he might have found out.
I would say yes because he was reacting like he did do it and and he wasnt denying anything but he should have at least tried to hide it.
I dont think Jake set them p because i dont thinkk he would want to ruin his "friendship" with sarah and sarah ,jake, and dan found out later that the answers were wrong

she didnt use them, and she doesnt seem like the person who would really betray her friends.
i think that the 3 cheaters brought their paper in all at once.
and so the teacher thought something was going on.
and so the teacher checked those 3 papers, and decided to tell mr chen.
at first i thought that it was rob that will break first and tell mr chen about the answers.
but rob wouldnt want to give himself and his friends away.
i think that maybe jake did.
when sarah came to him for the answers, maybe he handed sarah the wrong answers on purpose because he knew he being played.
or it could be that he has another older sibling that didnt do good on the mid term, and brought that person's answers by mistake.
or the test was completely mixed up.

ReplyDeletei think that maybe the teacher found out because it said that the teacher was very clever also it said that the teacher can read people minds. also it said that he saw three test in a row with the same wrong answers so i think that there is a high chance that the teacher found out about the three cheating.

I dont think Katie ratted them out because she didn't mention anything in her thoughts about ratting them out and i dont think her shock was fake when sarah thought she ratted her out.
ReplyDeleteMaybe "Mr.teacher" was that good at realizing who cheated, maybe he's really strict and really cautious of cheaters that year. Or maybe Jake ratted them out, maybe he was jealous of dan and rob because sarah told them the answers that he gave her.
Rob's nervous energy didn't give it away because Mr.Chen probably knows him as a good student and it would be obvious for someone like him to panic. Then dan ratted out sarah, by telling Mr.chen to "ask her."
I dont think Jake set them up, due to his thoughts. It was obvious that he really liked sarah and when a guy likes a girl they will really nice to them, and Jake gave sarah his sister's answers as a result of his massive crush, I dont think he would do that to any other girl. sarah telling rob and dan (only rob, but jake thought that she told both) made jake a little jealous and mad so he probably did something that he would probably regret now.

ReplyDeleteso do you think that mr.teacher has a good way of finding out if someone is cheating because i think that it is not a good idea because what if it was one person or everyone by mistake got the same answer so he might tell on some one that did nothing.
@Wario,I don't think its possible for everyone to get ALL the same answers unless those are the right ones.I do think that mr.teacher has experience because he might have dealt with problems like cheating because its kind of normal.
ReplyDelete@Wordnerd,That could be a possibility but i think mr.teacher had to chic all the papers to check if anyone was cheating and its alot of work because there is so many students.Unless other teachers are doing it and they notices Sarah,Dan and Rob had the same answers.
@Deadmau5,I agree Katie's shock was real and I don't think Sarah is a good friend because she didn't believe Katie that she didn't rat them out and there was no trust

ReplyDeleteI think Mr.Teacher would have noticed while looking at the test that all of them had the same answers and they were all wrong, which eventually leads to him thinking that they cheated.
I don't think Jake set then up, because by Jake's thoughts he really seemed to like Sarah and would do anything to make her noticed him and to be liked back by her.
Rob's nervous energy didn't give it away because he wouldn't snitch on his friend like that maybe because he knows that if he did the would hate for doing that and his wouldn't want his friends to look at him as they guy that snitched on them

ReplyDeleteI think it was Jake that turned them in he holds himself so high. I think it's because his morals and values are very precious to him. I noticed this when he was walking in the hall and thinking about the test. He thought if he should run back and save the Damsel in distress and tell The dragon, Mr Chen that it was him that did it. I can imagine what he's going through, like the "good" side of his brain is fighting with the evil side. His brain is at warfare, "If you tell him you'll get in trouble, don't do it!" "But, if you do he'll appreciate your honesty and maybe the punishment will be less harsh, anyways one lie always leads to another" Like his brain is having a hard time deciding. I know Katie has a guilty conscience but not guilty enough to make her rat them out. But, Sarah seemed really convincing when she talked to Katie about it like it was her fault, but, I think it's not Katie because she sounded like she was in utter disbelief when she heard that. I know Rob's not gonna rat himself out, considering how fearful he is of his dad. To make him walk far, far enough to make his hands and feet feel heavy. Maybe his father is an alcoholic who beats Rob till he bleeds and has bruises, or maybe he's just abusive. Just something really horrible in my mind, someone who has no mercy. No Mr Teacher couldn't have figured it out that fast in 2 hours no way! Someone must of told him, unless he's Sherlock Holmes.

ReplyDeleteDon't you think there is a part of the brain that conceals thoughts even you don't think about? or maybe she just doesn't wanna tell us about her ratting them out? But, I think your right Katie seemed pretty much surprised and shocked when Sarah blamed her for all of it.
I think Katie did rat Sarah, Rob, and Dan out because if they got caught Katie should have been caught as well because she cheated and used the same technique as they did.
ReplyDeleteMr.Teacher might have checked if any of the students had the same answers and 3 students had the exact same answers as each other. I think that's how they were caught because they all had the same answers.
I don't think Jake set them up because Jake doesn't seem like that person to me according to what we have read so far I don't think Jake would set them up besides Jake seems to like Sarah as well and not like Dan, Dan would take more quizzes than go out with Sarah if he could have.
Rob's nervous energy didn't give it away because Rob hasn't really said anything and I don't think that Rob would give it away he doesn't seem like a guy that would snitch.
@Jan101 maybe like Donna said he is a strict teacher so that could be a reason why be could have checked the test.

But the thought of Katie being jealous of Sarah because of a boy seems very realistic. The Rob observation, I had the same opinion Who do you think Rob's dad is?
What do you guys think is going to happen to Rob? Is he going to get the test signed? Is he going to go home?

ReplyDelete@Malav, good assumption, that could be the reason why they figured out they cheated, but i think they all took the test at different times, are you saying that they all handed in the test early and thats what was suspicious to the teacher?
My imagination of Rob's dad, is that he is in the military, his life has been hard and he has always had many rules that he couldn't break, and there would always be consequences. Maybe Rob's dad has parented his son like he was taught to be, so he has many rules that rob can't break, and is very strict about it. Rob knows how strict his dad is and is so fearful of him that he didnt even want to go home and wanted to get hit by a car. (Idea of military dad from Nicole)

ReplyDeleteBut, it takes time to look through tests thoroughly especially mid-terms someone must have ratted them out, and 2 hours to do that?! That's certainly not enough, long test and long answers, how can he remember all their test questions and answers which they got right and which they got wrong.

@Tabish, its actually multiple choice and the geography teacher will know somethings up when dan rob and sarah finish their tests way earlier then others, and as Malav said will probably tell Mr.Chen to double check those tests.

I dont think katie turned them in. mainly because she was cheating too.But didnt the princible find robs, dans, and sarahs cheating paper in the garbage?so maybe katie ripped hers up, or maybe katie goes in the garbage and gets their cheating tests. i dont think the teacher got them. mainly because he would go to the office or something to tell the princible, and that never happened while they were doing their tests. so i highly doubt the teacher found out by himself. i do not think robs nervousness gave it away. mainly because anyone can be nervous on a test, you cant really suspect some one if they are nervous.I do not think jake set this up, mainly because he thought that sarah set this up. the only thing jake did was give the test to sarah when she asked. so i do not think he set this up

ReplyDeleteAhh Good question, for him to think about running back and telling on himself tells me his parents are more lenient with him, because I know I have an older brother they are very hard on him and more lenient with me, luckily I share my brothers genes of intelligence. And he has his older sister whom he stole the test from. So maybe since she's in a higher grade they give her more attention.

ReplyDeleteHonestly i thought that Rob would have snitched on all of them. This is because he seemed like he was under pressure the most he was very nervous. He is so scared of what his dad is going to do to him once he finds out and the fact that Rob has to tell his own father that he cheated on his mid term exams that is hectic. I think its going to be really hard for him to tell his father well I think he should just tell his father and await the consequences.

@Wario well i thought that at first Robs dad might give him beatings. Then i thought he might just ground him for a really long time and give him a SEVERE punishment. When Rob was thinking about what his dad was going to do to him it made me think that Robs dad is really serious about school and wants him to do good but not by cheating though.

ReplyDelete@Wario maybe that's why his dad is so strict because maybe he grew up in a house were there was no room for failing in school and that you have to do good in school and maybe his parents were strict on him and if hi s parents were strict on him about school he would turn out to be someone who is really good in school because his parents pushed him to be. I think that maybe Robs dad is doing the same he wants his kid to be successful and always do the right thing and do good in school and that's why hes so strict.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Katie ratted them out because when sarah said that it was really cool how Mr.Chen found all three papers exactly the same ( with wrong answers) she looked shocked and surprised as if she had no idea what she was talking about. Katie might have not used her cheat answers because either she was scaed about the consequences she would have to face or she would have a guilty feeling in her mind until she didnt rat them out and so since she didn't want to rat them out ( im guessing she didnt want to ) she didn't cheat because if she did her guilty feeling would put pressure on her to rat them out.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Mr.Teacher might have found out all about their plan in 2 hours, I don't think so someone must have told him or maybe all three of them were done at the same time and so they just gave it in at the same time which might have been odd since Sarah or ruby i don't remember had explained(in her inner thoughts) that she was usually the last one to finish and maybe she got a little bored checking her test over and over again to make the time go by.
I think Rob's nervous energy probably did give it away because maybe Rob might have kept looking at Mr.Chen while cheating because he was afraid he would get caught and maybe Mr.Chen had called him to speak with him in private and that was when Rob ratted out Sarah and all of them got caught in 2 HOURS!!!!! Maybe Mr.Chen brought him to the side so Rob could tell him the truth and also so the others wouldn't find out who ratted them out or how Mr.Chen found out about the cheating.
No, I don't think Jake set them up because well he likes Sarah and I don't think he would want anyone to rat out Sarah and so he probably had nothing to do with ratting out Sarah.

And if your telling the truth for something that you know is really wrong just tell the truth and if that person doesn't want to be your friend after than that's there loss not yours. What would you do take the blame for something you did not do and get suspended or just tell the truth?

@eden exactly A true friend wouldn't really mind if they got ratted out but of course they would get a bit angry but that angry that they think of giving up/moving on and not being friends with you anymore because than that was just a waste because why were they your friend in the first place. As people say "friends come and go". Sometimes it's actually woth it to let go of a friend you've been holding on to for very long but it depends in the situation your in.

ReplyDelete@eden exactly my point we can always make friends and sometimes it's good for them to leave and it's also good for us because if a friend leaves you then you should know that that friend never really cared about you this friend got angry at you for snitching on him/her and left I don't think that's a friend that you would hold on to.

ReplyDeleteI dont think Katie turned them in because so far about what we know about her she doesn’t seem that way .She seems a girl that might cheat but when you get the chance who doesn’t cheat but she seems intelligent and kind but in situations like that i don’t think she would like to tell and be the snitch when i said kind and intelligent you think may think nerdy or teacher’s pet but really she doesn’t seem to be she will keep the guiltiness inside of her and save her friends .Mr. Teacher is smart he was able to find out very quickly but i find it kind of stupid like how did he figure out that they have the same answers unless he went through every class and then made a pile of the same answers but it still could have been a coincident. That Mr. Teacher may have been really smart unless he has a machine. But yea he was smart in finding out what happened. I would say yes because of how nervous he was .Like in the book they described him i forgot the exact words but like sweating and doing things like tapping playing with fingers but totally why would someone be that scared of being in the office just to see the principal? Like even if Rob didn’t cheat and was acting that way that meant he did something else bad. No i don’t think Jake set them up because why would he do that to his friends? In the first place they all have the same answers and wonder if the rest told on him he would get into trouble himself so i don’t think he is that dumb

ReplyDelete@blossom: if rob snitched on all of them wouldn’t he still get in trouble because he still did cheat so what is really the point? Rob may seem very nervous but wonder if the principal thinks he is scared for something else rather then cheating? It is going to be heard to break the news to his dad but shouldn’t he have thought about that before cheating? Shouldn’t he have thought about the consequences? Im pretty sure they had enough time to practice the answers so during that time why didn’t he also think?

ReplyDeletei dont think that katie snitched and turned sarah, dan, and rob in, because she would have admitted that she did it in teh book. also she seemed very nervous or scared to use the cheat answers,so she used the answers she got rerady, row, row, row, your boat.
ReplyDeleteas to the fact that mr.white caught them, there could be a possibilty that they all wrote in the same answers and they all were wrong, so they helped each other out or there was some sort of contact between them that they had the same wrong answers. due to this reason, mr.whie must have found/figured out that they could have cheated, together.
i dont think that robs nervousness gave it in, because katie was even nervous, and she was confused, well pretty much scared to use rthe chaet answers, and her nervousness didnt give it in. rob is always freaking out or panicking when he doesnt feel right about something, more likely like everyone.
i dont think that jake set them up, because jake likes sarah. another fact is that how did he know that sarah waas oging to give the answers to other students as well. jake could have set them up so sarah could learn her lesson for cheating but then i have a question about it, he would like sarah for who she is, so why would he want her to change, or learn her lesson about cheating.

ReplyDeletei dont think katie did because sarah is her best friend but sarah thinks that katie did. she said about it takes longer than about 2 hours to mark the mid term but i think that Mr.Chen can mark them around 2 hours. i think he is that good because hes a teacher i think he knows if he finds 2 the same he might find more.i dont think jake set them up he was to in "love" with her toothpaste simile
