  1. I agree with MLK first of all the march wasen't and isn't silly. They went on this march to fight for freedom ..they went to fight for their rights it might be silly for some people maybe because they already have their freedom....maybe because they were treated properly ...white werent treated as dirt blacks were....most people that get a lot they dont care at all about every or anything.

There are more then just one thing they are fighting for not just for the freedom to vote... they could continue with no freedom to anything or they can live their life the way they want to by being free.People did die or go into jail several times but only because they wanted freedom and they wouldnt have made it this far without taking those risk's. I think it was worth it.Why would someone want to live and be treated as dirt?? Why would they want to suffer rather then be in heaven and not needing to suffer through all the pain. What ever was done...was worth it

    1. @aloo you have a point and yes they did not only fight for freedom. People probably thought it was silly because they already have the experience of being free but the blacks didn't.

    2. @mustachio:exactly people have to try to get into the black people's shoes they need to live the black's life and then they should say if it was silly or not....when it comes to a person's life nothing silly, stupid or funny everything is serious and in the movie you could see how connected they were in other words how serious it was

  2. I don't really get why we had to see the second video because everyone's just getting a free Pen and MLK is there but I couldn't really understand what they were saying.
The third video was interesting because it was the real MLK and I realized that the movie is really realistic because the actor takes the roll nicely

    1. LOL! Janat Same here I didn't really get the second video either and I also think that the movie is realistic because the actor DOES take his roll seriously.

    2. i agree with both of you i didnt understand that either but looked like the man was signing some papers ....papers of what though??

    3. It is real historical footage. It will improve visualization to have an idea what things look like.

    4. Yea i agree they were just handing out pens but it shows at the same time how they MLK and lyndon johnson didnt have problems with eachother

      Delete
    5. @Janat he was signing the cival rights act

      Delete
    6. Its actually neat to see things as they happened rather then how some editor wants you to see them...this is real.

      Delete
    7. Ohh but why did he sign with so many pens ..??

      Delete
    8. Yes great question. Why did he sign with so many pens? any thoughts?

      Delete
    9. i think it is so his followers can get it and get inspired.

      Delete
    10. can you name a few differences MLK and the actor has.

      Delete
    11. sure the actor has to look like the person he is playing but i think what matters to me is the quality the actor puts in to it i think the actor of MLK did a great job

      Delete
    12. I don't really know but maybe it was lik an autograph or something or a memory

      Delete
    13. I think the pens are meant to symbolize all the men and women supporting the civil rights bill and those pens were meant for them too sign the bill in a symbolical way

      Delete
    14. good ideas...Thamil you are on fire tonight

    15. Well Thank You,Thank You Very Much

  3. Yeah I agree with him that it couldn't have been silly like Princess daisy said they marched for freedom and they earned there civil rights so they used that ambition and the momentum of winning there civil rights they wanted more and that's acceptable but in the "white" mans eyes they already hate "Negros" so them already getting there civil rights bill and they want more now there hating them even more so to the White people the think its silly

    ReplyDelete

    1. @MasterCheif~they marched for their civil rights and not only for their freedom to vote but also because they wanted to be free from this type of "hell"

      Delete
    2. Not only wanted more but rightfully and morally deserved more.

      Delete
    3. @princess peach: yes they were treated poorly they were treated like dirt.... you can judge a book by its cover they say well how can you judge if it you don't know what inside just like a person you cant say oh that person is black, brown, green , orange purple so they aren't my skin color so lets beat them up people judged by their cover did they ever take a second and think about what about the person life ??? how are they treated? if i was treated like that how would i feel?

      Delete
    4. true most of the white people white people did not like MLK and they thought black people are just negros or their servants.

      Delete
    5. @ daisy
why do you think white people hate blacks do you think it is the stereo type or do you think it is the difference of the color which created this hatred.

      Delete
    6. Persoanlly I think it was because they had different skin colours just by a race it made people different then other.I don't think its a stro type because a lot of people still do judge saying ooh that person is balc I don't want them to be in my house

    8. I think the whole dont judge a book by a cover quote shown by the white people that cared for the African-Americans civil rights because they if you want to say were being empathetic because they didnt care about other peoples morals and values and took in there own (which probably was that everyone is equal) and stepped up to the occasion and took action supporting the Negros that wanted freedom and those people were the brave ones that really understood what the Negro Community went through back then all the hatred and pain that was caused for something that seems pretty childish like seriously you kill one Negro they have much more people that will take that murder and put it into there hearts and make there civil rights protest something worth while if you wanna say because one of there people were killed because either he spoke out or cause he was black and all that mis-treatment couldn't have been kept to them selves for long

  4. if you watch the second video on YouTube and look at the comment on the bottom you tell that some people still disagree with MLK

    4. well they have to find some look alike or something close because remeber some people as MLK are dead

      Delete
    5. the actor in the movie don't look that serious as actual people

      Delete
    6. ya i see that they are saying bad stuff to martin luther king they should have some shame.

    7. @sana
if you are trying to say MLK looks calm in the movie you are right but he is calm because he was calm in real life he thought that violence was not the solution to everything which is why he is calm.

      Delete
    8. I think they did pretty good with the characters but as Princess daisy said some of them are dead like JFK,RFK,MLK so they tried there best
Wario they wouldn't have cared less of what they say because back then White was the dominant race and it sorta still is so they can say all they want and most of america would cheer them on and follow in there steps and use all sorts of vulgar language when they saw a negro or a negro supporter

      Delete
    9. racism was a way of life in many parts of the United States.

      Delete
    10. I agree Mr.Cheney Its Because as kids there parents formed them to pretty much hate Negros because im guessing there ancestors were so angry that there slaves got there freedom they would make there kids and grand-kids and ETC to hate them and that caused the hatred of them well thats what i think caused it

      Delete
    11. @thamil good point maybe that is why all the hatred was caused. Good prediction.

      Delete
    12. It Probably Is Because The Anger Of Losing You're Slave By Them Wanting Freedom Would Drive Them Too Hating You For The Rest Of Your Life

  5. I think that MLK had a point when he said that The march wasn't silly because doing the march is to gain the freedom they wanted to get without bombing houses, Bringing guns to use as a lethal force. That is what I would call silly. Secondly I really did not understand the second video that so clearly i thought he was signing a poverty bill, but giving pens to different people just caught me off guard.

    ReplyDelete
  6. in most of the videos i only saw one black person and that was martin luther king because there was no freedom yet however, how come all the whites hated the blacks except for martin luther king that made me think he has a lot of power.

    ReplyDelete
  7. i think that lyndon b johnson was a very thoughtful man.
he was very determined to end poverty.

i didnt get the second video.

    4. what about the second video?
      i didnt get it.
he touched each pen on the paper and gave it to people.

  8. These videos were very informative, without MLK's determination, and aspiration for the chance of black people to be able to have the right to vote and the freedom of blacks, probably all of this would not be here and we wouldn't have all theses opportunities. I agree that the march was not silly idea and that it was an effective way for blacks to be able to vote

    1. give me some detail, you could have said all this watching the 1st 4 minute long bio video.

  9. I think Mlk is right, marching is very powerful it spreads a strong message, but many think that it's waste of time. They want to make sure blacks have those opportunities as the white do. Bringing guns ans such sure it will gain you some power, but one day they'll shoot you back or you'll be in jail.
From watching that video I think that at that time there were more of a white population. I'm not sure.
But still in some places in the world there is segregation and people aren't taking action. After digging deeper into Mlk's life I was always wondering if he was scared to die because any second a person can STAB him PUNCH him etc. But every time that happens, all he has said was "it's okay". How is it okay to hit you. That shows how much he was into non-violence and that's why his walk wasn't silly for him.

    1. but he often has a look of nervousness, remember his conversation with his wife when he envisioned dieing like JFK

  10. One thing that i think proves that Martin Luther King was very wise, is when he explained to people was why we should be non-violent. Not to fight back, and how its not the white people's fault because have been taught, trained and raised to hate black people. He told everyone to put yourself in others shoes. This is showing empathy in a whole new meaning. Lets say that your in a white kid's shoes in the 1960's. It would be possible for you to have a different opinion about black people. But even if so, it would be very unlikely that you would want to express that opinion and tell all your white classmates to leave the back people alone, and that they dont like someone because of the color of the skin. People are not naturally leaders, most people will be afraid of the consequences.
Now put yourself in a black kids' shoes in the 1960's. Of course you found it unfair and not right. But would you really take a stand? Would you not be afraid of the consequences, what if you were just influenced by Malcum X, and just think that white people are evil, and thats it. But what if you were influenced or taught by MLK? Would you right away go marching down the street protesting? A man who not only wanted a change, but made a change. Martin was one of the very few who took a stand and didnt fear of being put into jail for proving a point and standing up for his rights. To me he seemed like a courageous and wise person.

    1. great insight. yes taking a stand in the 60s was a real life taking risk. There were no u tube and cell phone to detail all the events of the time. People could be killed and made to disappear without much notice.

  11. I very much appreciate MLK's work. I think that was very courageous, I can't believe that even a person that has been spit on or pushed/punched in the face would still give in to the cause.
