I think maybe there is a plan in Davids mind to do something because he didnt say anything to Sean about not inviting him or anything but acted like he was there coincidentally.Maybe he didnt confront sean was because he wanted to make it seem like they dont have to do everything together and maybe he doesnt mind them hanging out,but sean did it was really fun with David and the girls unlike with scoot , nick, and gavin they tried too hard to make it seem like there having fun. Or maybe David already did what he wanted to -get Scott , Nick and Gavin in trouble by "ratting " them out on purpose.
I think that maybe David does have a plan but knowing him now I can't tell if it is a good plan or bad/mean plan.It could be that he is trying to hook Caroline and Sean up. It could be revenge for not inviting him to the roller rink. I agree with JAN101 that maybe he had a backup plan if the boys (Scott,Nick and Gavin) if they did come. I think that David is just tired of the three of them. I think that David is having 'real' fun with Caroline,Lisa and Cristina, but I have to say that when Mr.Cheney read the part when David went somewhere, I thought he left because he was in pain and that he went to take some pill to make it stop. I also think that Scott and his 'crew' are thinking of a plan to get David back for getting them kicked-out.

i think david wanted to keep things secret, and he wanted to see if sean was a true friend. david was still waiting to see if sean would confess about why he didnt want to tell david. i also think david will try to make sean feel close enough to tell eachother things, and not keeping secrets.

Sean didn't tell David because it would have seemed weird not inviting your friend to an event that has "wheels" and he already has a set of wheels. I think David will go to an event and not invite Sean because he didn't invite him to the roller rink, I think David is going to go some where with the girls and not invite Sean.
@ tabish could be true that he was hiding his anger, but remember sean can "see" the anger in his eyes. but it may be that he was insulted that sean didnt tell him because he is in a wheelchair.

@Mr.Cheney:I think both of them need the friendship because David is new to the school so he needs friends,someone to hang out with instead of rolling around alone or with the 3 grade 7 girls because i think a boy needs at least 1 boy to hang out with and girls need at least 1 girl to hang out with that's my perspective because if David hangs out with the grade 7 girls they wont play basketball with him i'm thinking they will take him shopping and i think David wouldn't like that .I think Sean needs the friendship also because he can hang out with Scott Nick and Gavin but they smoke and drink and Sean doesn't want to do something stupid like that.And as we all have learned in the past there is a thing of second hand smoking if u stay with someone that smokes you will start smoking too.So if Sean stays with Scott Nick and Gavin he might start to smoke to and get into trouble which i'm sure he doesn't want and once people get into a habit of doing one bad thing they will continue doing bad things so if Sean starts smoking he will end up drinking which i'm sure he doesn't want cause he told Mr.McCully he wanted a fresh start in the new fresh year. i think they both need them equally because without davi sean has to haug out with scott nick and gavin which puts him in risk of getting in trouble.also put himself in risk of loosing his parents,mr.mccullys trust. david needs sean because without sean david is alone and will be hanging out with the 3 grade 7 girls who will not be with him in each class or lunch beacause the girl need to hang out with him because there in different grade which explains that they won't be class together.also the girl just might wanna have time with each othjer and not with david.that is why i think david and sean need each other equally.

@ mr cheney i think this is sort of realistic. it may be that david, like most people, is trying to hide the fact that sean felt as though david couldnt do something that " regular " people can do.
i think sean is more important to david because david is new to the school, and sean is his only " friend." and david seems very happy to be around sean. sean on the hand, not so much. even in the chapter we read today. sean seemed surprised that david showed up. sean also seemed annoyed that david had told the security about scott nick and gavin were smoking. and sean is also using david as an excuse for being late. david doesnt feel as though he is being used. he feels as though they are friends, and are getting out of trouble.
@malav i agree it is realistic but what would you do if you were in seans spot you would do the same you won't tell david about rollar rink but the point is thatdavid did not seem mad or anything at sean.

It gives the evaluation process a personal, and descriptive component that can be very beneficial. As we have just completed self evaluation and had 3 days off from blogging its a good time to get refocused with some critical assessment.
I wouldve posted earlier but i felt sickk but i think David really feels Seans a freind and so if he confronted sean about it it would ruin there freindship causing unnecessary problems and i dont think they want that and if you think about it you wont do that either well i wont

As someone predicted before we read the scene in the roller rink, David didn't confront Sean for not inviting him, instead he came to the same place, surprised him to see if he would confess. He went there to prove to Sean that he can do what everyone else can do. So he practically forgave Sean for him thinking he cant skate by trying to tell him he can do things other people can do. Im guessing that David figured that Sean waSn't ignorant and gave him a chance. Confusing enough? Haven't found a way to word out things properly. @Olga love the pic, LINKIN PARK RULEZ.

i think that sean needs the friendship more because eversince sean has been hanging around with david sean has so far kept out of trouble for example at the dance if david was not there sean would have been left alone at the roller rink just with the girls so he would have been stared at and all the pressure and would want to go with the boys, scott, nick and gavin and if he had, most probably someone would see the and report them to security just like david did.
I think Sean really needs the friendship more because, wasn't him that said that he couldn't hang out with Sean and the guys anymore, and being in a school for a long time now, you've already created the image that you want people to see as. Creating that reputatation of that "bad kid". Do you think that he is now going to be accepted by a group of other friends? Maybe...... but the fact that Scott, Nick and Gavin changed his mentality, he might not fit in. You can argue that David has more need of friends because of of his "condition" but he's new he'll fit in, no one except Sean, Coroline, maybe Scott know what he's like.
What I think is that David has a plan in his head! He probally already knows that Sean is going to be at the rink, and knows that the boys (Sean, Nick and Gavin) come to the dance. Since he already knows that they smoke and stuff, he might make it live and get them busted!

@shelby yes because that was apart of his plan, he found out because the girls invited him to go with them and they told him that sean was going to be there. And he was thinking about the obvious, why sean didn't tell him about it. (he thought sean was thinking when he got invited, "Oh, whats the point of telling David, he obviously can't skate.")
But he before he could react to it, he thought he might just go and prove sean wrong. Thats because he knows sean isnt ignorant. If sean was scott then David wouldn't bother trying to prove him wrong, he would just let out his anger on him. Kinda like when he punched sean, but that was when he didnt know sean.
OH WOW! Just realized, since David knew that sean was going to be with scott nick and gavin and so he wanted to get rid of them, maybe because he didnt want sean to hang out with people like them, so he cant be influenced to smoke.
@ donna nice prediction!! can it also be that david doesnt like scott, and figured nick and gavin will be the same so he thinks they will make sean stop hanging out with david, or david is jelous and thinks sean will stop being around him and go back to his old friends.
@mr.cheney (at one of your earlier questions) I honestly think david wants the friendship more because sean seems like the laid back guy who will go with flow, i don't know if thats the whole part of his personality, he might surprise us later in the book. But david seems to have sort of a magnetic connection with sean, probably because he knows that sean is not like other people who would talk to him differently and treat him differently. so, I think that david would be more cautious about losing his friendship with sean.
@Olga (regarding your first post) Good prediction, scott nick and gavin might find out that david told on them and might find a way to get rid of him. Maybe another fight will happen, so maybe at the end it might be a war against sean's old friends and sean's new friend.

@ rohan that is a good idea. it is true, sean is getting a lot of use from david. getting out of trouble, having an excuse for being late to class, going somewhere with david and missing piano classes. it is a good point, but dont you think david would be left alone? no friends at all. everyone else treats him specially, and he doesnt want that. scott nick and gavin, you know that would be disaster. so i think david needs sean more than sean needs david.

@Mr.Cheney:I think both of them need the friendship because David is new to the school so he needs friends,someone to hang out with instead of rolling around alone or with the 3 grade 7 girls because i think a boy needs at least 1 boy to hang out with and girls need at least 1 girl to hang out with that's my perspective because if David hangs out with the grade 7 girls they wont play basketball with him i'm thinking they will take him shopping and i think David wouldn't like that .I think Sean needs the friendship also because he can hang out with Scott Nick and Gavin but they smoke and drink and Sean doesn't want to do something stupid like that.And as we all have learned in the past there is a thing of second hand smoking if u stay with someone that smokes you will start smoking too.So if Sean stays with Scott Nick and Gavin he might start to smoke to and get into trouble which i'm sure he doesn't want and once people get into a habit of doing one bad thing they will continue doing bad things so if Sean starts smoking he will end up drinking which i'm sure he doesn't want cause he told Mr.McCully he wanted a fresh start in the new fresh year. So David needs Sean to hang out with so he can do the boy things and Sean needs David so he wont get into trouble and wont start doing these bad things.

it may be that david, like most people, is trying to hide the fact that sean felt as though
david couldnt do something that " regular " people can do.
i think sean is more important to david
because david is new to the school,
and sean is his only " friend."
and david seems very happy to be around sean.
sean on the hand, not so much.
even in the chapter we read today.
sean seemed surprised that david showed up.
sean also seemed annoyed that david had told the security about scott nick and gavin
were smoking.
and sean is also using david as an excuse
for being late.

i think that david didn't mention about inviting him to roller rink because maybe, the grade 7 girls invited david and told him that they also invited sean so, he will be also coming along and later, david forgot to mention it in front of sean that's why when david went to sean he was not surprised but, sean sure was surprised to see david at the roller rink.

It gives the evaluation process a personal, and descriptive component that can be very beneficial. As we have just completed self evaluation and had 3 days off from blogging its a good time to get refocused with some critical assessment.

As someone predicted before we read the scene in the roller rink, David didn't confront Sean for not inviting him, instead he came to the same place, surprised him to see if he would confess. He went there to prove to Sean that he can do what everyone else can do. So he practically forgave Sean for him thinking he cant skate by trying to tell him he can do things other people can do. Im guessing that David figured that Sean waSn't ignorant and gave him a chance.

Creating that reputatation of that "bad kid". Do you think that he is now going to be accepted by a group of other friends? Maybe...... but the fact that Scott, Nick and Gavin changed his mentality, he might not fit in. You can argue that David has more need of friends because of of his "condition" but he's new he'll fit in, no one except Sean, Coroline, maybe Scott know what he's like.

ReplyDeleteyes because that was apart of his plan, he found out because the girls invited him to go with them and they told him that sean was going to be there. And he was thinking about the obvious, why sean didn't tell him about it.
(he thought sean was thinking when he got invited, "Oh, whats the point of telling David, he obviously can't skate.")
But he before he could react to it, he thought he might just go and prove sean wrong. Thats because he knows sean isnt ignorant. If sean was scott then David wouldn't bother trying to prove him wrong, he would just let out his anger on him. Kinda like when he punched sean, but that was when he didnt know sean.
OH WOW! Just realized, since David knew that sean was going to be with scott nick and gavin and so he wanted to get rid of them, maybe because he didnt want sean to hang out with people like them, so he cant be influenced to smoke.

ReplyDeleteI honestly think david wants the friendship more because sean seems like the laid back guy who will go with flow, i don't know if thats the whole part of his personality, he might surprise us later in the book. But david seems to have sort of a magnetic connection with sean, probably because he knows that sean is not like other people who would talk to him differently and treat him differently. so, I think that david would be more cautious about losing his friendship with sean.
