I find it really sad that teen’s suicide for various reasons but i know there is pressure on them but don't they like every feel if I die how would my parents feel? They think about getting relief but what about the other people their family relatives? Like I understand it’s just pressure but anything can happen to their parents if they (kid) decided to die..My mom friend her son died she had to go therapy thingy im always forget but it’s something where like u can’t handle so you go to a special place and they calm you down
How Rick said that there were kids bulling Jamie Hubley and how there are vandalism in the lunch room you could see vandalism in the background and I think he use the urban background to show that the people who bullied Jamie were people who do this stuff. Like Rick said "300 kids is 300 to many." I see how the camera is showing Rick's emotions cause the camera keeps shifting.
@Neha Abeeshan is right because of the depression and tension they are living through it's like "hell" and do you think they will think about how other's will feel before they suicide?
I agree with this video kids do need a Rome model. Because the kids follow their elders and what to the adults teach them? They teach them how to be cruel kids follow every action of an adult does and that’s where it starts from it’s like a chain. A bad teaching someone will be bad and then bad, bad, bad......etc... but if the adults care and really think about it he wasn’t a goofy kid he was a guy that wanted to share his personality he wants to be who he is ,not hide it. Just the way we do it we all show who we are and our talents but when someone that has something different wants to show it why is it such a problem? We all should be able to express our feeling and our personality.
I think that what he says about Jamie Hubley of how he empasized him as a great big gay kid that sings lady gaga on the internet I'm geussing that he said that to show what the others thought of him and also the statement he said about the cops coming in and there's hell to pay doesn't really happen in these scenarios , I think that could mean that gay police officers pay attention to this and non gay people are not doing anything at all.
jamie hubley was under pressure so he decided to commit sucide. as the man i the video said students do need rol models so they can realise that what other people are saying isnt true and that they arent invissible anymore. last year a man came to our school to give a pressentation on bulling and he also mentoned that gay students are being treated the way they shoulnd be. it happened to be that he was gay so he knew how it felt to be bullied for who he was. i beleive that every one has a right to speak but they shoudnt misuse it.
i think that this video is really sad how people bullies gay people so much that they decide to suicide. watching this video reminded me of when In my old school(in pakistan) my art teachers son died and she got tottaly crazy...she got out of control and about a week later she comitted to suicide. that time i cryed allot because she was my favorite teacher :( i think that what bullies are doing is tottally wrong they are not only ruining gay people life but as well they are also ruining thier perents and thier families lifes.
Its sad to know that kids who are gay have to go through so much everyday just for bring themsleves.I think there so tired of bullying that they make a wrong decisions and chose to ..suicide because they think if they live there just gonna get bullied more and more and not everyone or anyone wants to have that.
@abeeshan: yes but they have thought what a relief it is for them but what about the others? He feels better but he will cause more problems. They all should find something that fits everyone. I know sooner or later they will get over the fear but they will struggle
@Nicole: what do you mean by sadness it happy??
@sonali:yes i agree but still thinking about others is important.
I think that this is a great video although i wish it had a bit more views though, therefor more people would know the pain gay people go through everyday. And how many die each year is drastic this chould change when people watch this hopefully they know now what they have done.
This rant is very true. I find it horrible that teens have to resort to taking their own lives to stop the insults, criticizing, and bullying. It's takes someone killing themselves for the bullies to realize that what they are doing is wrong and not only does it hurt the person but it can also affect their family and friends in an tremendous way.
@Mr.Cheney i think that what rick mercer is saying about his idea of bringing police and role models is very smart, this is very clever because the students will then know that this is a serious situation they are dealing with and as we have seen with Jamie Hubley it can cause death.Especially the part where he says that we have to bring them to justice i think this is a excellent idea because those kids may go into a guidance counselor or anything similar and they will explain what pain gay students go through .
@Shelby so true it can especially hurt their family when there child commits suicide and the parents didnt know that their son was being bullied it is very sad. There is a similar boy like jamie called jamey rodemeyer he committed suicide but before he did he made this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Pb1CaGMdWk it is really sad.
@mrcheney I think yes they do feel bad for being him because t was THEIR fault and its what they did and said to Jamie that made him decide to suicide. I think they're filled up with guilt for their descisions but im thinking why would they torment someone so bad that he would have to suicide. They all did it for fun but nobody thought how he would feel, or how it hurt him.
@everyone just checked this video and it has now gone viral since Tuesday night, Rick Mercer's video has gone viral, popping up around the internet and being shared by people who don't even know who Rick Mercer is this is really great.
In reading the comments above I don't understand why Rick Mercer comes out and talks about a teen that is a homosexual that was bullied and committed suicide. Don't get to conclusion, but I think it is good he used his platform and Name to help, but teen bullying needs to be addressed for all teens that are bullied. All the celebrities should help, regardless of color, nationality, religion or whatever. Bullying needs to addressed in the schools and bullies reported to their parents and if it continues the bullies should be disciplined and dealt with. I get tired of reading about bullying and teen suicide as a result, or teens afraid to go to school. It is time the school boards, govt and police forget about political correctness and make this problem go away. If the bully won' t stop then remove the bully. Lets not wait until another teen removes themselves by suicide.I hope this video changes your views on gay people cause it changed mine and i hope that we actually do something so not another person has to give there life or even think of commiting suicide.
@ Shelby, yes lets hope that you are right, and these students do feel remorseful. What do you think about the police getting involved like Rick Mercer suggests?
@MrCheney I think the bullies feel bad but not enough to completly stop bullying again. The police didnt step into the situation, so they see no consiquence for thier actions (unless they feel guilty themselves). The police's absense would tell them its okay, and some would continue.
@Mr.Cheney: i think the bullies feel scared not feel bad.Because they are thinking if the teens parents figure out the teen committed Suicide because of that bully think about how much hate the bullies would get? they bullies will either not go to school or will keep on bullying but not bullying because the person looks different but because they are trying to keep the people away from telling the parents
@ Nicole, yes it seems easy and natural for some to pray on others and bully and taunt, and unless serious consequences are given it's assuming a lot, that those types of students have the moral conscious to change.
Jamie hubley was gay and also depressed he felt neglected and was attacked. Rick tried to emphasize that it's no longer good to tell kids everthings gonna get better WE NEED TO MAKE A CHANGE!
Ricks rant is very true. Jamie Hubley was a grate singer and all but since he made a choice of being gay, everyone turned on him and start to bully him. By listening to Rick rant I feel that their should be a change.

ReplyDeleteAre we in the lab yet?
ReplyDeleteYes.
ReplyDelete@ neha wont they think about them selves before others oppinion?
ReplyDeleteIt's really sad that teen's are thinking of suicide because of depression and tension that is haunting them.
ReplyDelete@Neha I think the sadness is so great that they can't really think about anything else.
ReplyDeletethis is a terrible reason but gay kids are in the state that they are fed up and they make the terrible decisions.
ReplyDeleteHow Rick said that there were kids bulling Jamie Hubley and how there are vandalism in the lunch room you could see vandalism in the background and I think he use the urban background to show that the people who bullied Jamie were people who do this stuff. ReplyDelete@aqwib that's true because of all the things they are going through they can't seem to chose the right decisions.
ReplyDelete@ neha you mean role* lol rome model
ReplyDeleteI complettly agree with Rick Mercer. People always agree that its not right yet nobody wants to change it!
ReplyDeletejamie hubley was under pressure so he decided to commit sucide. as the man i the video said students do need rol models so they can realise that what other people are saying isnt true and that they arent invissible anymore. last year a man came to our school to give a pressentation on bulling and he also mentoned that gay students are being treated the way they shoulnd be. it happened to be that he was gay so he knew how it felt to be bullied for who he was. i beleive that every one has a right to speak but they shoudnt misuse it.

ReplyDeleteWhat about bring Rick Mercer's idea about bringing the students responsible for this to justice?
ReplyDeleteWatch the video a few times, Rick has a few things to say, you already know the story! What about his ideas about role models and police involvement.

ReplyDelete@Neha i agree, the must think that the only way to stop all this from happening is to commit suicide which is horrible

ReplyDeleteIt is sad. :(
ReplyDeleteSuicide is earth shattering, there is no way to express how devastating it is.
ReplyDeleteIts also sad how many teens resort to suicide as a coping strategy.
Do you think the kids that relentless bullied him truly feel bad?
@mrcheney I think yes they do feel bad for being him because t was THEIR fault and its what they did and said to Jamie that made him decide to suicide. @mr.cheney yes I do think the bullies feel bad, because now all the blame is put on them and they are the main reason why they commit suicide.
ReplyDelete@ Shelby, yes lets hope that you are right, and these students do feel remorseful. What do you think about the police getting involved like Rick Mercer suggests?
ReplyDelete@Rohan, great info, and yes the video has become a massive internet "hit" with thousands of hits and views.
ReplyDelete@Neha I meant great as a lot not happy; Thier sadness was at such a high extent that they really didnt think of anything else.
