Narrative writing and Remembrance Day
Remembrance Day is coming and we are also going to
begin writing extensive narrative text.
This task will get us ready to study and prepare for both.
Watch the Videos below to refresh and build your
knowledge of Canada’s War experience:
Now take the picture given below and construct the
narrative text for the scene.
Recall Narrative text, should include setting,
characters, rising action and climax, and morals. You will not need to flush out all the details in this task
because your narrative will be a small portion of an obviously bigger
story. But do consider these
elements while writing out your response.
Your writing can be 1st or 3rd person,
should include dialogue, as well as should begin just prior to the picture and
continue just past the events of the picture. It will take a considerable amount of time to write out the
detailed passage, so you should write it in word and copy and paste into the
blog. When copying your text
highlight the typing in a different colour where the picture specifically takes
place.
Take the image and your narrative text and put it in a word document.
Use - Times font, size 10, 1.5 spacing
print out 2 copies

Well the picture is where people dying and soldiers trying their best to save the people. They go through rough times every single second, minute, hour, day, week, month, year.Trying their best to survive and fight for the people’s freedom. They all risk their lives...they fight, fight and fight until they can see their families again but some may not they rise but fall back down and go away for a long long long while. We love and respect each and every one of them for risking their lives to save us. Rest in peace all who risk for us <3
ReplyDeleteso can that be a part of my narrative text? because it doesn't clearly give a setting but in way it does give one which is the "county". The moral is fighting for what you believe in which is freedom.Characters:humans , soldiers,people....OR are we looking at a story type? like writing from a perspective of a person from war that's fighting or being a human running away so they don't die.?
ReplyDeleteThat is a narrative text, but I want you to tell the story, like the picture is a chapter in as book, its a small part of a longer narrative.
ReplyDeleteYou are the author of the story.
Test
ReplyDeleteIt was the Second Battle of Ypres. So many soldiers were dying quickly. Streams of blood everywhere, and screams of pain. Trenches filled with soldiers, just managing to pull through.
ReplyDeleteIt was a scary sight, and especially at this young age.
The battle was heading into our town. There were bombs blowing up, and causing your ears to hurt, and make you feel as though you’ve gone deaf. My brother Andre and I were running away from the battle as it came closer and closer. The soldiers trying to defend our town (I do not know the countries except for France, and I was guessing that the others were British) had no choice but to move back since the enemy was over powering the defenses.
Andre found war cool, and interesting. I called for him and said, “Hurry up!” But all he called back was, “Wait Caroline, this is cool! Let’s stay for a bit longer and watch.” I found that idea quite dumb since our lives were at stake. I kept calling for Andre to run. Just then, I saw something flash before my eyes. There had been a bomb about 7 feet away from Andre, and it had blown up before he could get far away. He was hardly breathing. I knew I had to get him away, and quick.
His face was burnt, his whole right arm was bleeding, and he was out cold.
I had no choice but to carry him out of harm’s way.
“Hang in there Andre. You’re going to be alright.” I kept talking to him, and trying not to doubt myself that he was going to be okay. Tears were starting come. I tried to be brave. There were more bombs blowing up in the area. More smoke, and more bodies all around.
I cried out for help, “Somebody, anybody, please help!”
It seemed as though we were the only ones left in the town. I knew our mother wanted to look for us, but wouldn’t dare come out of our home. I kept going, and trying to go as fast as I could with my 55 pound brother on my back. Soldiers and doctors noticed me running. They promised me that they would safely get me and my brother home, and heal Andre.
@ mr cheney
ReplyDeletethe part i highlighted with a different colour and font just showed up as the same as the rest of my narrative.
Wow Mr.Cheney is it okay if I do it in my notebook?
ReplyDeleteOk Malav.
ReplyDeleteOlga, you can but I want it on the blog...it will be essential for the next task.
He was getting heavy, I couldn’t hold him any longer but I had to, just until I got him to a safer place, to a doctor. This war had killed many of our soldiers and seeing one of the soldiers just lying there, heavily breathing and moments away from dying. I could tell he was one of our soldiers because of the uniform but there was blood spilled all over it. I had to help him even if he was quite heavy and it made my back throb. I couldn’t give up but I had to save him at least this soldier’s family members could be happy their son is back. There were so many relationships with just one person and if that one person dies it hurts all those people.
ReplyDeleteAs I was walking on, smoke was everywhere making it hard for me to breathe but as we were going my feet were aching in pain. I heard a slight whisper but couldn’t understand what the person muttered. I asked in confusion” sorry repeat what you said?”Was it his last words? But he was breathing so he couldn’t possibly dye yet….. He repeated and all I understood was “I appreciate for helping me, I though no one would come. We have to end this war. I have a family of 6, my parents, my wife and three kids. I just married last year and my age is just 21.”His breathing as getting rougher and on my mind was I have to save him. He has a family and what will they do without him?
A though of my parents fluttered to my mind, what would they have done without me or my younger sisters? Their only hope was me. I told him “I will help you to the nurse’s place it’s not far and just keep trying to stay awake and not to fall asleep.”I wanted to believe in that myself but was it true or was I filling him with false hope? No, I had to get him to a doctor so he could do safely to his family as the war should end soon hopefully.
@Malav and Janat, great job getting on this assignment and producing a response with substance.
ReplyDelete@ mr.cheney where does it tell you about the girl carrying her brother on her to get him to a safe place and get him healed? and I can't see the video for some reason it's saying that the video is blocked?!
ReplyDelete@ mr cheney thanks.
ReplyDelete@ janat
great vocabulary.
i can imagine all of it.
@ Sonali, It doesn't tell you these things, Janat and Malav have used the many skills from reading narrative text to write narrative text, they have written what "They" saw and felt.
ReplyDeleteYou can watch the video at school if it is not working at home.
@mr.cheney oh ok thank you and i'll see what i can get without the video.
ReplyDelete@mr.cheney btw ( just asking ) are we allowed to dress down for halloween tomm?
ReplyDeleteStudent council would have organized a dress down and I didn't hear anything on the announcements, so I think its dress code
ReplyDeletebut my bro said that his teacher said we can and one of my friends bro got a form
ReplyDeleteBoom, Boom, Boom, that was the sound of a first attack. Nobody was shocked as I was. We fearlessly started to get prepared. Boom another hit but it just missed. For a second my heart stopped beating…!
ReplyDeleteIt was all foggy. We began to attack. All I hear was missiles shooting back and forth. My friend Richard was their standing ready to face anything, he was so determined to fight for our country. He was a true soldier, fighting for his pride and our freedom. He was my inspiration so was my father. I pulled the trigger believing to earn success. Shot by shot the tension grew. I moved forward and forward, launching and hiding. All I can see is streams of blood and dead bodies.
“Hey T-1024 get the tank and fire atom bombs, no moving back now!”
The commander declared with trust and belief. I could only tell because of his firm voice. I know he made a mistake because I never drove the tank yet but that doesn’t mean I should tell him, there is no time for that. I drove it right in the top left corner as the commander said. Right behind me was Richard guarding my back. My jaw dropped in dead silence. I felt a shock in my body as I leaned towards him.
He was bleeding as I saw him in pain. He knew himself surviving will be inevitable. I picked him up with my shoulders. My hands were trembling (simile or metaphor). As I started to cry I remembered what my father said “in war there are no sentiments, but there is time when you can let your emotions out that’s only if you succeed and never back down”. I buried Richard and then gave a salute full of pride. From that day on I will always and forever remember Richard.
R.I.P
"OH MY GOD, team, i think we need to switch plans, those B-52's are dropping off so many soldiers, alright everyone spread out no need to bunch together, in the mean time i'll try to get fast movers in the air pronto, GO GO GO!" said Cole [the squad leader] "this is a death hole, why dont we go kill ourselves?" said campo.
ReplyDeleteAs we progressed the plan went perfectly, except the only remaining soldiers were only our squad, Cole, Campo, Matrovich, and Montes. We thought the battle was done and we can see our family members again.
But we spoked to soon... there was a fast mover in the air, we didnt know if it was ours or the enemys. It shot at us, it hit noone. Campo had an idea of getting the missile from the truck. I had ran there, cover by cover,as i got it, i shot, it hit!
I was so thankful none of us died but yet again i spoke too soon. Matrovich, and Campo, on the floor bleeding to death, we had called a medic, but he was dead. Montes was yelling at cole for not making a smart enough plan, whic costed us 2 soldiers. Montes had said to bury them.
We went just about 30 metres up north, i had no gas left in me because it was had to carry him, but I will remember those two till I die.
@mr.cheney the picture won't show.
ReplyDelete@? ( sana i think ) the picture just sais always and forever with a poppy and the poppies reflection is a cross (+)
ReplyDelete@Mr.Cheney because they highlighting thing doesn't work i have made a new paragraph the second paragraph is where it takes place:
ReplyDeleteWorld War 1 had just started it was time for me to go cover my shift. Before I left I pray to see my family and friends sooner or later. Hoping day by day I will survive I take all of power and hope and I WILL help save this country. I take the risk for my life but what I do I will never regret...I get my entire gear ready and out I go. Boom, boom, and people shooting all over I run and run hiding for a shield, cars blowing up kaboosh! Me and my bud run down the hill not paying attention I slip and crack a bone “aww I can’t get up” my partner stops and helps me I tell him to go I will be able to take care of myself he wasn’t sure what to do he seemed baffled but without even a second boom! A bomb exploded farther down in the path we knew our area where we were would be a bomb so I started to drag myself but I wasn’t moving any faster so my bud decided to pull me it was a bit painful but I was able to get across.
While being pulled I see 2 young kids running them not noticing boom one of them got shot and down on the floor he was screaming and the other crying they both seemed like brothers but the second not noticing someone aiming towards him I was shaken I got up on my two feet shaking and about to fall down I jump on the kid boom! The shot goes right above my face. Their aim was now towards me but I don’t regret that move I made. I shouldn’t stay with the little kids because then their life would be in MORE danger. I tell them to move away and be cautious of everything around them the smallest picks up the oldest and puts him on his shoulder and begins to walk and this time being very cautious of every move he makes I keep an eye on them all the way until they walk in to the foggy smoke and are not been able to be seen anymore... but as soon as they entered KABOOSH! And out of the fog all was been seen was a hand...

We had them out numbered and we had more firepower they tried to retreat but we killed every single one of them.
We Cleared part one now the rest of the mission We were all happy but edgy because at any time we could have German plains Fly over and kill us than i heard thee roar of Friendly British Lancaster's they bombed the whole city.My Squad Continuously Screamed out "Regina Rifles" with pride.
After the tanks we were the first ones to be waved through to advance into the city. We got in it looked bad but we had to go through i saw bodys everywhere and from the corners of my eye i can see Walter Vomit, I couldn't blame him it looked bad. We still had German's killing everywhere the Innocent had to be forgotten right now."Sarge I cant take it its looks really bad" Walter Screamed out."Soldier if you want to stay here or run back but when were in heaven together don't blame me cause you ended up being like them". "Sorry Sir"He apologized.I had to admit i wanted to run to but if i did so whats my Squad gonna think.
Done.....
@ tamil very detailed how do you know the specific names of the weapon?
ReplyDelete@Abeenash I searched it up and i already knew the regina rifles and yea
ReplyDeleteBOOM! As i hear a bomb explode, it almost hit me. "Remember this is for you Country" I kept on telling myself. I wonted to go home so badly, it hurt when i started thinking about my wife. No I am not a solder like the others. I am a Sargent. As much as I wanted to go see my family, and to think that my wife just gave birth my first child. I feel so stupid. I am a horrible father. I should be at home helping the baby and my wife. Ok focus. It's not your fault. Just finish the war. Well as the war goes on, me and my buddy from my neighborhood are going to be on a ship, in 2 days. Hopefully I will make it to live. This is a filthy trench. mud everywhere. And this stale bread, gross. You might ask where I am from. I am from Canada West. As I pray to my God to get me out of here, somehow i fainted and woke up on the ship! Finally, I'm safe. Finally Going back where I belong Canada.
ReplyDeleteSome awesome narrative!
ReplyDeleteif you can not see the picture I will post it in the morning.
just waiting for everybody to post, then we will start the next task with the narrative.

ReplyDeleteI could hear young kids crying and scrambling people calling for help …….. BOOM I heard a bomb exploding and I ran back words to save my self and that’s when I saw a soldier doing his best to save his nation, his country! I felt something really weird in my stomach, in my heart. I also wanted to help them but in the age of 13 I couldn’t do a thing.
ReplyDeleteThey were coming over to my town….THEY ARE COMING OVER TO OUR TOWN I yelled to my elder brother. We both were running as fast as we could have. Bombs blowing voice was hurting our ears like we will be deaf soon. We both were calling for help…PLEASE HELP US!
Some of you have not included character dialogue in your story, I want to know what was said between the two characters in the photo.
ReplyDelete“Alright ladies, move, move, move!” I experienced a feeling I’ve never felt before. A bit of anxiety hit me once I had heard that the battle was over. It was my time to do my job along with the other nurses. I rushed out of the tent and saw a soldier on the ground holding his leg and trying to get up. I reached down and with all my strength I picked him up and carried him on my back and stood up. He was moaning in pain and I felt a teardrop running down my cheek. I looked around the battle site, It was horrifying, everything was destroyed. Then I heard the coordinator yelling at us, “We’ve got to move faster, get them all to the tent!” I started to pick up speed to the tent. I had to tell the soldier that everything was going to be alright. “Don’t worry Sir, you will be alright, just a minor leg injury.” And I heard him struggled to whisper “Thank you.”
ReplyDeleteIt was a dusty and blurry trail, there was a lack of air and bullets were flying everywhere, Private Ovid was taking cover on the ground except he wasn’t moving...I Sergeant Kraus went to him and checked his pulses, suddenly he was still alive but out cold his skin was pale and there was a lack of vital signs. Oh no... The medic came and checked what happened he was infected with Nova gases that will rotten the flesh from the inside of your skin. He was infected but THANK GOD we were wearing our gas masks or else we would end up like him.
ReplyDeleteWe had a plan the ones in the guile suits went across the grassy land they sniped the gunners of the mounted machine guns we kept going with him when… Someone screamed out “Heavy! Heavy!” A tank was upon us it was tearing trough everything in its path there were bodies everywhere it was like a living nightmare everybody were hiding we called in mortar fire, mortars were raining down on us then it was just pitch black….
Someone was calling us I did not know who, we were then being dragged to the CH-47 they called out “hurry! Hurry! Reinforcements are coming!” This was all part of Keno’s sinister plan.
It was an 8 hour drive I couldn’t feel my legs except when I looked down I screamed “Were is my legs!” while screaming in pain and in complete horror. I was laid in the hospital for amputation for my legs they cut it off and were in complete shock because I had a bullet wound in my chest but yet very close to my heart.
I was a war hero and got my purple heart.
While I was yet in a wheelchair.
I was in the school telling all the children to leave the school because I knew a bomb was planted somewhere. I saw most of the kids crying and panicking I felt like doing that too but I couldn’t I had to get these children out safe "15 more minutes till it blasts!" I heard my commander, I was shocked there was so many kids left I tried my best to get all the children out however I couldn’t … the school blew up innocent children died I was terribly hurt .However, by the time the school blew up school was almost done and I heard a mother screaming out “MY CHILD”.
ReplyDeleteI was really depressed because I thought that woman’s child died but it was not that case I saw her pointing to her child the kid was a survivor .Even though I felt like dying I ran with all my might to save that child and I was carrying the young boy behind my back. he said “will I survive?” .I took a big gulp and said “keep hope” 5 paramedics were saving that child .However, that child did not live also, I noticed that I was the only person that lived through the bomb I could not explain my feeling .
50 years later I was awarded the Canadian general service award because I turned out later on to become a general I from then till today I pray everyday that no one can go through that terrible day.
I could hear the gunfire in background. I dragged my feet, struggling to transport this soldier on my back. I didn't know who he was, or even which country he was fighting for. But he ordered to me to hide while he took gunfire for me. In my book, that was good enough. I wondered why he would take such a risk, all for a poor schoolboy like myself. "Um, are you okay sir?" What a stupid question, of course he wasn't okay. "Safety..get to safety" he struggled to respond. "I will, right after I get you to the medics" I reassured him. He didn't respond, which urged me to find the medics even more. I started pick up my pace past the blown up school house, and yes a medical tent! I rushed towards the tent, overwhelmed with hope.
ReplyDeleteA tall women rushed towards me, "Oh dear Lord, are you alright?" "Yes", I answered. "But this soldier needs help". A group of medics took the soldier into the back. I watched them check out his situation. Even though he was physically hurt, I felt mentally bruised. I decided to follow orders and get to safety. I looked around and wondered, in a war zone like this, where is safe?
i saw him fall in what looked like he was in pain.I ran towards him. He looked to be one of the young soldiers about 17 or 18 years old, i saw his badge that read Christopher I looked down and saw blood on his pants i knew i had to get him to safety before his condition got even worse.
ReplyDelete"Christopher, Christopher" i said shaking him softly
"Christopher, Christopher" i repeated
i heard a moan and saw his eyes blink a little then began to open.
"Who are you?" questioned Christopher
"What happened?"
"We have no time for this i need to get you to safety"I answered "QUICK"
i picked him up and dragged him to camp where he would be treated.

ReplyDeleteThere was a sudden rush of what sounded like thunder all throughout the time I was there. I was only one of many nurses who were taking care of many wounded soldiers. It was the second month I was there and there was more injured than there were we could take care off, and there were more being injured. Three more months had past and it was just then when I was feeling home sick I was missing my mother’s cooking especially a nice piece of brown bread but there was no time to dream there were lives which needed attention. It was just then when a sudden explosion was nearby the camping tents and I could see an injured man screaming “HELP SOMEONE PLEASE” unfortunately there was no one around him. It was up to me I rushed to him grabbed him by the arms and picked him up on my back, and dragged him back to the camp.
ReplyDeleteA week later he woke up and was able to speak he said to me. “If it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t be here right now … thank you.” I replied to him and said “It’s what I am here for.” He slightly gave me a smile. He asked me what my name was and i answered “Samantha stallings” and he shockingly opened his eyes and said “ is your father roger stallings?” how did he Know my father .My father left me when I was 5 years old, "yes, how do you know my father?" But I had no more time to talk they sent him back to a hospital farther than the camp we were at now, as he could no more use one of his leg and he would need wheelchair access which we did not have any more of .I returned to the camp and suddenly noticed a letter on my desk with big and below it with bold words "To :Samantha Stallings " and below it with neat handwriting "Roger Stallings."
It was almost night time and I was almost about to sleep, until the “BOOOOOM!" huge blast go off and people are screaming like crazy crying for help. I ran out side with the family. All I saw was people crying like they lost a family member. Or did they loose a family member. The kids were crying and the big son was too. The kids wanted to go back home to get their favourite toy. The big son was willing to go and get it with them. So I sent them off to go and get it.
ReplyDeleteWhen they were coming back, another blast happen.
"Daddy daddy come save us.
I had rushed over there to help them.
"Daddy both sisters are gone and my legs are almost gone"
I had tears coming down like Niagara Falls! I couldn't believe it but I have to save my only son left before anything else happen to him. I put him on my shoulder and carried him on my back.
He was crying. I could hear him weeping. It made me feel so bad. First my wife died after the twin and now the twins are gone. I don’t want to let my last son go. If he is gone then my life is over as well.
As soon as we reach to a safe place, and explosion has happen and my son had a heart attack. He was no more. I knew that my life is going to be over soon so I took a rusted knife and bleeded to death.
Yeah, Anurag...you have been missing in action until tonight!
ReplyDeleteIt was quite, No sound of firing guns or grenades exploding. The town filled with children’s laughter was now our battlefield to freedom. “Move! Move! Move,” Sergeant exclaimed. As I moved up, the silence came to an end the air filled with violent screeches. “Fire! Fire! Fire,” Sergeant yelled. “Watch out!” I screamed as the grenade was about to hit private. He was too late the grenade had landed, black smoke filled the air around him. I tried looking for him but the black smoke from the grenade made difficult for me to find him. I was about to give up, when suddenly I heard moaning. I followed the sound I was about to pick him up but I stopped the country needs you more than me go, go fight for the country he said slowly has as if every word triggered a paper cut. I knew he could survive so I picked him up to find a safe place and a doctor. “Take him to a safe shelter” sergeant said. “Yes, sir I replied”. On my way back to camp the sight were unbearable blood was scatter everywhere and dead bodies of dead soldier were everywhere. However, suddenly I see a girl carrying her brother on her back. “Hey little girl what are you doing go back home this is not safe” I called to her. I placed the private down and ran over to her. I slowed down as I saw a tear go down her bruised cheek. “What are you doing here” I replied kindly. “I followed my brother here” she replied. “You see we used to live here but my family and I were forced to move because of the war. I followed my brother here and found him fainted on the field” she said. “what is your name little girl” I questioned. “My name is Julia” she replied in a soft voice. “Where are your parents” I asked? Suddenly she burst into tears and told me she was alone in the world that she only had a brother and that her parents were killed in a bomb. I was not far away from camp I grab Julia’s brother and went to pick up the private. I put Julia’s brother on my left shoulder and private on other. In no time I reached camp and left private and julia’s brother with the doctor.” is my brother going to be fine?”Julia asked “yes” I replied but sadly “private was left dead”.I told her. R.I.P private.
ReplyDeleteGood to see you back on the Blog Sana!
ReplyDeleteBOOM BOOM I could hear bombs exploding in the background. Many people were dying, WE NEEDED TO TAKE ACTION! Running out of the tent and on the grounds people running and running not noticing BOOM! a shot went right through the little boy. I saw his sister yelling HELP! ANYBODY, PLEASE HELP! She was carrying him on her back hoping that he would be okay and she was telling him everything would be alright. The boy refused to go saying “SAVE YOURSELF THERE’S NO POINT OF STAYING BACK AND HELPING ME REACH TO SAFETY, THIS IS THE END! I was crying and telling myself everything’s alright he’ll be alright. I needed to do something I couldn’t let this happen to innocent people. It was now my turn to go in and take control. My bud and I got in position, ready to attack. We could see people attacking and what was that over there? It seemed like someone was shooting from behind us. I saw a bullet go up ahead from right beside my head. MORE PEOPLE WERE DYING! This was enough, there were streams of blood everywhere. I couldn't help but think about how my family would be feeling right now. I had to be strong and face the world because I knew everything would be alright and that if I didn't believe in myself......................this would be the end for me!
ReplyDelete@mr.cheney srry i didn't blog it didn't let me but it finally worked yay!
ReplyDeleteThere laid a wounded solider, on the blood of soldiers who had lost there lives to fighting wars for 1 thing, and 1 thing only freedom. It was like watching are family and friends getting slandered one by one. I said to myself “I wish I had all the arms in the world to take all of the wounded soldiers with me, back to tent where the doctors can nurse them back to health”. BOOM “AHHH” It had hit, and I feel to the ground so hard I started bleeding. In a distance I could see a solider that needed my help.I struggled to help my self up to go to him the sky was dark as deaths eye with flash of light coming from everwhere. When i got to him he mumbled to me "tell my family i love them" right then i knew i had to get him out here before something worst happens.I grabbed him hand that was full of blood and there him onto my back with all my might his face was deathly pale and the lines of it were hard like drawn wires. I wanted him to tell his family that in person. As i struggled to carry him back to the tent a big flash of light came and through me off my feet with him. It was dead silent for a few moments and i managed to get up with him and started back i said to myself "never give up never stop trying till i have succeed in what i have to do" thats what i said to myself that started me up again. "Life can be hard, life can be easy, but really untill you die you know th ture meaning of life" wispered the man that was on my shoulder those were his last words.

ReplyDelete@MR.CHENEY i am too
ReplyDeletePeew! Boom! I hear gun shot everyday guns on the floor everywhere bombs exploding everywhere and there's no safe place to sleep or anything it feels like I can die any second.
ReplyDeleteMy mom is sick and there's no place to take her that's save don't worry kid just give her this I looked at the bottle it said juggernaut. I ran home as fast as I could, I opened the front door and she wasn't there I went inside looked everywhere and she was in the washroom and blood was everywhere I saw that she was shot in the arm I threw some water on her face and she woke up I took her to the living room and gave her the medicine the guy gave me she got a little better after an hour.
Boom half of our house was blown away with a tank I helped my mom up and we ran outside she was on my back I was running away from the place that I heard gun shots from with my mom I think the medicine makes you stronger so I took some too,
After a while the gun shot sounds where coming from very far away so I put my mom down and went to go get water.
I came back and I saw her sleeping I went to sleep to next morning I woke up to the sounds of gun shots they sounded real close me and my mom hid behind the very small house, it was silent so we went outside and BOOM! It almost hit us we duck then another one was coming right at us BOOOM!
Clear the ramp! 30 seconds! Alright people this is it we need to rush take cover wait for the others and then we push up the beach! Keep these N74 Grenades use them when you push past the bunkers and on enemy vehicles. I'll see you on the beach!
ReplyDelete"Ramp Opening" the driver exclaimed
When the ramp was completely opened I blacked out there were so many gun shots from the MG-42
's they were just mowing us down like grass.
Luckily I survived even though a bullet hit my helmet.
"CAPTAIN! CAPTAIN!! HELP PLEASE!! I'M... John tried to finish but he was shot again.
"SQUAD TAKE COVER!" I screamed
"Captain what do we do now?!?" Scott said.
Sargent Walker! You take your squad up the beach and wait for the bangalores!" I said
"Alpha push up with Sargent Walker's squad"
"Where's John?" Dave questioned
"Gone" I mumbled
A lot didn't make it this far, they either were killed by the MG's or the explosives " Greg said while he was looking at the dog tags
We pushed up when Sargent Walker's squad was distracting the bunker crew.
"BANGALORES! WHERE ARE THOSE BANGALORES!" I screeched
I thought to myself how far was I going to get in this war.
"Captain? Captain!" Scott yelled
"yes?" I said
"the bangalores are ready to ignite"
"FIRE IN THE HOLE!"
BOOM! We got through and made it into a village after clearing the bunkers, we were resting in the house until we started to hear gunshots. We rushed outside and we saw 2 tanks and immediately evacuated the house we took cover and returned fire.
"Scott! I'll give you cover you run into the bell tower and try to take out those 40's squads" I knew what I was doing.
"COVERING FIRE!" "GO, GO, GO"
Scott made it and it made it easier for us all we needed to do was take out the tanks.
"Sargent Walker! Do you and your squad still have sticky's?" I said impatiently
"yes sir" Walker yelled
"I'll cover you and you plant them on the tanks!"
I exclaimed
"NOW!" I yelled
While giving covering fire I was shot, Sargent Walker ran back and pulled me to aside and was yelling "MEDIC, MEDIC" It was too late the tanks were now firing when the medic arrived he tried to stop my bleeding but it didn't stop I knew I was a goner I told Sargent Walker something I said "It was a pleasure being in this war with you we are the brothers in arm....."
I was only a 13 year old boy when the war started. It was the war of Afghanistan. I could hear the sounds of bombs exploding and gun shots firing. My father had died during the war and my mother was badly wounded but she told me to run to safety with my little sister because she too knew that she wouldn’t survive. I and my sister both kissed her cheeks and said goodbye for this was the last time we would ever see our mom again. Tears filled both our eyes.
ReplyDeleteAs we ran through the streets we could barely see a thing because the bombs were exploding everywhere and dust filled the air. I could hear the sounds of bombs and gunfire’s in the background I saw dead body’s everywhere. We still ran and ran. It was such a horrid sight.
As we were running I saw a soldier fighting for our country. Then I saw a bomb. I saw it flash before my eyes. BOOM! It exploded 7 feet away from the soldier. I was surprised and angry at the same time. Quickly I and my sister ran to the wounded soldier. I bent down close to him both of his legs were gone and blood rushed through the ground.
I didn’t know what to do. Even though the soldier was badly wounded he was still alive. Quickly I told my sister to rip some cloth from his garment. I took the cloth and wrapped around his arms and other parts of his body that were badly wounded. He said to me “Thanks kid I appreciate what you’re trying to do for me but leave me here to die”. I said “no I will not leave you here to die”. Then he said” I have served my depth in society and my country, now leave me here to die”. I ignored him and carried him on my back I told him that everything was going to be ok.
I cried out for help, “Somebody help me! Anybody!. Nobody answered I thought that we were not going to make it but I kept on going. Far away I could see soldiers and doctors they had noticed me running towards them. I cried out “MEDIC! MEDIC! Please help me! I had told them that I had found a badly wounded soldier and that he needed to be treated quickly. They told me everything was going to be alright.
War ahd started, and it wasnt a regulr war but it is a powerfull war.My brother, jecky, had fought against germany and came back alive, but who knew that they were coming back for another battle. hitler was back to get everything that used to belonged to them.
ReplyDeleteJeky rushed out the door, gathered all the soldiers and got ready to fight.
"GO CALL ALL THE REMANING SOLDIERS AND TELL THEM GERMANS ARE BACK" jecky ordered. I went to the office and called all aoldiers to get ready for war. Everyone was getting ready. All soldiers got into position and all tanks came out.
BOOM!BOOM!BOOM! Three bombs blasted and that was the sighn that it was time to battle. all of a sudden roaring sounds came. We look up and we see thousands of war planes. another sound came, it was a huge army in tanks and others with machine guns.
"FIRE" Jecky yelled, and all the bombs started blastin, bullets soared in the air and missals blasted.
A young teenager was lost and bomb blasted right beside him, he was bleeding. I quickly carrid him on my back and took him in a safe spot.
"You'll be alright dont worry!" I said
"I hope" he said, and his eyes shut. he died. he wasnt my brother but i felt said because he was someone elses brother.
There was a sense of shock and fear on the boat as we headed for the beach. We weren't told which beach because "they" thought that we might be scared. We weren't scared, we were down right terrified. My friend Seargent Jefferson had recently ranked up from private to Seargent. Our captain had steered us closer to the beach, even closer than I'd like to be. I started to holler "Turn it around!" but, it seemed like nobody was listening. I could see the other soldiers starting to look pale, a few others threw up. I admit I didnt like that at all, but I wouldn't blame them I felt the same. I heard that sound, that horrible sound. "BOOM" They had some sort of grenade launcher on their bunker. Bullets wizzed by our heads as my stomach started to churn. I was on the last boat that entered the beach. I saw the soldiers in front being shot going down one by one, fortunately we were the last boat, I held on to my cross and prayed to god that we wouldn't be shot and they would be out of ammo. We got even closer, my knees were shaking. I thought of my family back home, my retired father, my mother, my little sister, the love of my life. Probably sitting and waiting, anticipating my arrival. We were told the time until contact was approximately 2 minutes. I started thinking again about my life back home.
ReplyDelete"1 MINUTE" yelled the captain
That interrupted my thoughts. I know even though bullets whizzed by none of them were acurate enough to hit me. Still the thought of fear still burning within my head, yet not enough to make me jump off.
"10 SECONDS"
I was shivering, this was war, what was I thinking I should have been prepared. The Captain started counting down. I held my cross looked at the face of every soldier wondering which men would come out alive.
"CONTACT"
The door in front of me dropped open. Machine guns fired random shots. I know they didn't take aim by the amount of bullets they were wasting. I wasn't gonna die, I was determined to stay alive, so was Jefferson. We swan dived into the water. Many of the soldiers followed. Bodies came crashing into the water, not all of them were alive. I saw the blood start diffusing within the water. Bullets came in too, starting off fast and slowing down then shortly sinking leaving behind them waves of force. I started losing my breath. I clambered to the beach, taking long hard hard breaths. I had to find cover, quickly!. I hid behind a large rock, Jefferson, shortly followed. Surprised by our courage I reached for my gun.
"We're gonna take out the top machine gun men. I'll take left you take right
One
Two
Three
Go!"
We did a barrel roll and took a few shots at the machine gunners. Fortunately I nailed mine right between the eyes. I rolled back.
"Get your target?" asked Jefferson
"Yeah, Nailed him"
"Good, I got mine"
We moved across the beach check point to check point. We got to the base of a bunker. Right under the window.
"We're right under their noses" said Jefferson
At that very moment he was cut off a bullet hit him in the shoulder.
"Aghhhhhh!" he screamed
"Don't worry sir,I'll get you to safety"
I put him up on my shoulders, and ran like mad for the shore. Boom and explosion beside me interrupted my thoughts. And there I went blank, everything went white, I think I saw the "light".
