Rebound 17 - to see or not to see

If David was right and those boys did make fun of him, then what does this say about the day to day struggles David has to deal with and how does this impact his mental state?

If Sean was right and those boys did NOT make fun of him, then what does this say about the character and mental state of David?

It seems that we have a good split in our class about who started this fight.  It may seem inconsequential but this small incident speaks a lot about who and what David is and deals with on a daily basis.

Of course all discoveries about Davids characters are lessons about our character.

Post your thoughts and specifically comment on other posts that have different opinions.

  1. I think that the teenagers did make fun of him. I think this mostly because usually teenagers can be so immature and mean. I think that David does struggle day to day because when he looks around he can see people walking and doing things that he cant be apart of because of his chair and to see a teenager making fun of that it just set him off. People like that who make fun of other peoples disability are childish and also immature.

  2. If Sean was right that the teenagers didn't make fun of David being in a wheel chair then he shouldn't have lost his temper and just let it go, because David is going to face alot of obstacles in his life and there is going to be alot of people thats going to be mean and disrespectful.

  3. i think the high school boys were minding there own business and talking with hand gestures.so when david looked at david he saw the boys making fun of him when they weren't actually making fun of david.i think this because when david ask them why are you making fun of me the had a confused look.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Oh and David should listen better. He didn't really let the teenagers talk because he was mostly insulting them.

    ReplyDelete
  5. of course sean did not see the boys because his back was to the boys it was by chance that david turned around to look at seanbut instead saw they boys thinking they were making fun of him.i think david lost his temper because he was already upset about him being in a wheelchair and everyone treating him differently so when he saw the older boys he felt hurt that the boys were making fun of him.but then he stood up against himself and ask them why they were making fun of him.i think that because i would do the if i thought someone making fun of me i would that stand up for myself like david.

    ReplyDelete
  6. @Google i also think that's what happened, David should be more careful next time and not pick random fights like that.

    ReplyDelete
  7. i think that david was not right and those boys didn't make fun of him they were just laughing and talking to each other but, david thought that they were making fun of him and due to the fact that david has to go through allot in his daily basis maybe, he thought that they are making fun of him.
people making fun of david and treating him differently could impact his mental state because right now he is just a kid and he feels really bad when people treat him differently or make fun of him.
If Sean was right and those boys didn't make fun of him, then that means that david has allot of anger and it's out of control and because he knows that people makes fun of him, feel sorry for him and treats him differently he thinks that every person who is laughing is laughing at him.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Sometimes you expect teenagers to be all tough and annoying and ignorant but maybe David just saw it the wrong way and too it as an insult. At this point im not really sure if the teenagers were making fun of him because there are two different sides to this story.

    ReplyDelete
  9. if david was right about those 2 boys,
this is probably a reason why david david gets so mad about his wheelchair.
    people make fun of him,
and if not, feel bad for him, and mistake
him as a person who cant do anything in life.
this probably makes david mad, and go out of control because he is considered a kid that isnt as good as others.

and if sean was right about them not doing anything, this means that david is always asuming that others always think of david as stupid, and find it silly that he is in a wheelchair.
that is what must be going around in david's head, and like sana said, they could have been doing hand gestures, and the way that they were moving their arms, it seems like they were making fun of them.

    i think david was right.
i think this because the highschool boys were
pretty mean to sean and david, and it seemed like they were lying when they said that they didnt do anything.
this could be the reason for those 2 boys being
mean, or it could be because of the way david and sean were talking to them.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Sometimes David can build up some much anger and take it out on everybody else.

    ReplyDelete
  11. david must have also thought the boys were making fun of them because
they might have been looking at him,
and they must have been talking about him.

    ReplyDelete
  12. @ eden
david wont release anger like crazy,
he wont just blame all of his troubles on 2 random guys.
he must have had a reason for going crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  13. @ twnklt toes good point Sometimes David can build up some much anger and take it out on everybody else so, maybe he was mad and hurt because he is on a wheel chair and he can't walk and when he saw those boys laughing he took all his anger out on them.

    ReplyDelete
  14. @twinkle toes i think david sees less people making fun of him rather then people who feel sorry for him.

but i still think when he sees people feeling sorry (and doing nice thinks for him like pushing him around, giving extra attention) for him he doesn't feel that hurt compare to people who make fun of him because

WORDS HURT PEOPLE MORE THEN ACTIONS

    ReplyDelete
  15. @Malav maybe but there are alot of possibilitys of what the teenagers were doing.

    ReplyDelete
  16. @ tehreem
like i said to eden, david knows better than to just release anger out on random people.
and if they were laughing, and most probably looking at you,
doesnt that make even more sense that they would be laughing at you?

    ReplyDelete
  17. high school boys were surprised when David started the argument so, maybe they were not making fun of him

    ReplyDelete
  18. I think those boys did make fun of david, why wouldn't they? It was obvious because of their personalities had shown when they started talking back to david, and david would never get mad for no reason.

If the boys did make fun of david, it tells me that david's daily life is him dealing with these things, things like people treating him differently and talking to him differently, because people feel sorry for him, but that he gets a lot. This time he had gotten disrespect from others and that got him mad. I think david is a type of person who isn't temperamental, because if you think about it, he puts up with everyone treating him differently everyday. He has gotten so use to it that he doesn't get mad at it anymore, but anyone would get mad if someone disrespects you. And he had every right to react that way. He is the type of person who will stand up for himself.

If the boys didnt make fun of david, then david would be just be cautious of everything, but jumping to conclusions by thinking someone was making fun of him when they weren't. But i wouldn't blame him for jumping to that conclusion because he does see it happening and he probably gets used to knowing how it looks or sounds and this time, he recognized the classic arm motion. And if the boys were dancing or something instead of imitating david, then david shouldn't have jumped at them, he should of apologized afterwards.

    ReplyDelete
  19. @ Google that is true that words hurt more then actions. Even though lets say someone says something ,mean to David and then hurts him the pain that he will feel of those words they said will stick inside of him even though they apologize and David forgives them he will not forget what they said because it hurt him and it did some damage to him.

    ReplyDelete
  20. @ eden yes well, my point is that
david wont go crazy unless there is a reason.
like on the first day, sean was on the ramp, that could be offensive to him because sean doesnt need it, and he is "blocking" the way for anyone to get through.

    ReplyDelete
  21. @ tehreem
    what makes you think that?
couldnt they be just acting, thinking david is stupid?

    ReplyDelete
  22. @Malav im not saying that he will take his anger out on anybody he sees im saying that of him being in a wheelchair and people making fun of him he will build up his anger and lose his temper.

    ReplyDelete
  23. 2 ALL PEOPLE WHO SAY THAT THE BOYS WERE MAKING FUN OF DAVID

how is david so sure that the boys were making fun of him its not like he heard them or somthing.he just saw them making hand gesture that look like they were on a wheel chair but how is he sure they were making fun of him and that they were talking and minding there own business and doing hand gestures for a dance(just sayin) or something.also if they were making fun of david then why would the older boys be looking confused about what david was talking about to them.

    ReplyDelete
  24. @Eden @Tehreem
But if this was all a misunderstanding, why didnt those boys take the time to explain why they were innocent?

    ReplyDelete
  25. @ donna
    EXACTLY!
their personality gives it away that they are not the nicest people in the world.

the way you act, and react tells a lot about who you are.

    ReplyDelete
  26. @Malav there is always going to be a reason why but i understand what you are saying

    ReplyDelete
  27. @sana good point but then couldn't they have just acted that way so they can seem innocent? couldnt you have tell that they did make fun of him considering their personalities?

    ReplyDelete
  28. @ sana
we do not know if the boys were or were not,
but i think that david was right because of facts.
    sean hadnt noticed them.
when he saw david's face all red, sean thought that david was mad at sean.

and what makes you think that they were telling the truth?
    couldnt they be acting?

    ReplyDelete
  29. @ Dnna the teenagers didnt really get a chance to explain themselves because David was insulting them most of the time calling them stupid and ugly and liars so they got angry and this lead to a fight.

    ReplyDelete
  30. wow the poll, and this isnt looking the same.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I dont get sean in this scene cause he told david that they werent making fun of him, but he wasnt even paying attention to them?? LOL, was he just telling david that so he doesnt get into a fight with them, but then he was the one who threw the first punch. (because the big guy was asking for it)

Did sean even tell david that? dont remember that...

    ReplyDelete
  32. david was called cripple by the boys which hurt him and made sean loose his anger because his friend was hurt but david didn't lose his anger when he was called a cripple.so i would say that david dosn't have anger issues.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Sometimes you cant really trust teenagers because some of them can be mean and disrespectful but others are nice.

David is just like any other person, we all have problems and things to worry about in our life.

    ReplyDelete
  34. david was called cripple by the boys which hurt him and made sean loose his anger because his friend was hurt but david didn't lose his anger when he was called a cripple.so i would say that david dosn't have anger issues.

    ReplyDelete
  35. @Eden
Think about probability, what are the chances that those boys werent making fun david and instead just dancing or something and laughing when david was right there and it was the first time they saw him? thats just highly unlikely.

    ReplyDelete
  36. @Donna if that happened the David took it the wrong way and got into a fight for no reason. David should listen to what the teenagers had to say, because there are to diffrent sides ti every story.

    ReplyDelete
  37. @eden true but when david was called a cripple sean said that "i couldn't stand david being hurt"right before the he punched the boys so i'm saying that sean was equally mad about them saying cripple to david and coward to sean. honestly if i was in a wheelchair and was called a cripple i would probably feel like i'm use less.

    ReplyDelete
  38. @Google if i was in a wheelchair and been called a cripple i would not know what to think of myself.

    ReplyDelete
  39. @ donna
you have lots of good points.
it just proves that david was right.

    ReplyDelete
  40. @donna and malav
they didn't have a chance to explain that they were innocent because david would keep calling them bad words and not give them a chance to prove themselfs innocent.so that is why they looked confused.

    ReplyDelete
  41. @Eden but wouldnt you expect them to make fun of him? who wouldnt, david is different and most people dont know about his condition, sure there is a side to every story, but i think this story is just plain and simple GUILTY towards the teenage boys.

    ReplyDelete
  42. @twinkle toes won't you feel bad because your on a wheelchair and some called you bad legs

    ReplyDelete
  43. i know that Sean was mad about what they said to David and he couldn't stand the hurt that was coming from David so, he did what he had to do he motioned his fist to the guy and hit him. Although the teenagers was asking for it.

    ReplyDelete
  44. 2twinkle toes teenagers being mean and tough is kind of like a sterotype to me

    ReplyDelete
  45. by what i think, david was being made fun of,
and then being a cripple, that is just rude,
    and offensive.
i think david was hurt, but didnt show it.
and so, he took it out as anger, and the whole fight happened.

    ReplyDelete
  46. @Donna, who wouldn't? well, i certainly wont make fun of him because i can do something he cant i would have just mind my own business because he didn't do anything to me hes just trying to be a normal person.

    ReplyDelete
  47. @sana but why would something like that make them confused? everyone would of reacted mad and frustrated.
@malav thanks, thats what i intend to do.

    ReplyDelete
  48. @ sana
    true, that is sterotipical,
but the bigger one showed this, and the smaller guy, not so much.

    ReplyDelete
  49. @Google of course i would feel bad but i wouldn't have lost my temper. There are alot of people that are gonna make fun but everybody has to deal with it in some point if their life.

    ReplyDelete
  50. @donna if the boys were making fun of david they would be laughing hard that sean would hear them and why would they be looking confused when david was aking why they were making fun of him

    ReplyDelete
  51. @Eden well you still would treat him differently and not even know it, just like everyone else (including me) But many people wouldnt feel sorry for him because they cant go into davids shoes, so instead they just make fun of him.

    ReplyDelete
  52. @Donna i would mind my own buisnesssssss. they are alot of people that have disabilities and they want to be treated like normal people so i would have not done anything.

    ReplyDelete
  53. @sana you have a point there but im pretty sure they were holding the laughter in, they were cautious of their surroundings and sean wasnt paying attention anyways, he just tried to stop david so that he wouldnt get into a fight. I dont think sean believed that they werent making fun of him after because he realized what kind of people they were.

    ReplyDelete
  54. This reminds me of the time that after school we saw this little girl with a SERIOUS disease. I didn't laugh or anything because i don't laugh at things like that. I didn't feel sorry because the girl wanted to be treated like everybody else, she wanted to be treated like a person.

    ReplyDelete
  55. just like David wants to be treated like a normal person.

    ReplyDelete
  56. @Eden obviously, most would mind their own business, but not everyone would treat them the same, whether its being slightly nicer to them then to others, or enunciating words.

    ReplyDelete
  57. @ sana
david didnt start saying bad words.
first david satrted yelling, and asked why
they were making fun of them.
then they looked confused(which i doubt was the truth)
    then david started calling names

    ReplyDelete
  58. @Malav yea and the reason why david started calling names is because he was mad that the boys were acting innocent.

    ReplyDelete
  59. @malav that what i meant to say

    ReplyDelete
  60. I think David was right and they were making fun of him. Firstly why would they would they be walking by and just randomly start making fun of a guy in a wheelchair it was obviously intentionally shows that David struggles a lot with fitting in and feeling like a normal person because of lots of the negativity towards him.

    ReplyDelete
  61. @Donna im not really sure what the disease is but i can describe it a little:

The girls head was really, really, really tiny and her body was bigger than her head.

I found out that the disease is called microcephaly.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Other conditions associated with microcephaly are speech and motor problems, facial distortions, dwarfism, hyperactivity, seizures, coordination and balance issues and other neurological problems.

    ReplyDelete
  63. There is no treatment for microcephaly which will help any microcephalic child's head grow to normal size.

    ReplyDelete
  64. @sana I disagree. What if David wasn't there do you still think that they would be making hand gestures symbolizing a wheelchair

    ReplyDelete
  65. Some microcephalic kids will go on to have only mild mental retardation. Others can be severely retarded.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Occasionally, a microcephalic child will develop normal intelligence levels and be able to keep up mentally and physically with other kids their own age. But, these kids often have disfigurement of the face and skull that can lend to teasing and other cruelties from kids, and sometimes anger issues with the microcephalic child

    ReplyDelete
  67. I got this information from a woman who's son has this disease and he can do everything a normal kid can do but he has trouble sometimes.

    ReplyDelete
  68. @pizza maybe they were surprised because they didn't think that some looking so innocent in a wheelchair would start something, maybe that's why they began doing that because they thought nothing might happen

    ReplyDelete
  69. @Eden thats really serious, but at least they cant die from it. (from what i read just now on wikipedia)

    ReplyDelete
  70. @shelby yea so they were basicly trying to act innocent and act like they dont know what davids talking bout

    ReplyDelete
  71. @pizza well who do you think they were referring to when they said cripple

    ReplyDelete
  72. @ shelby
    that must be it!
that and probably they were acting.they may be surprised, but because they did not suspect
david to notice, and/or not talk back.

    ReplyDelete
  73. @malav Are you saying that David jumps to conclusion to quickly

    ReplyDelete
  74. I think that Sean was right and that the tennegers didnt do anything to make fun of david because when david was talking to them sean said tnat they had a confuesed face like him and also between tow teens there was one of them who was reasonable
Also this says about david that if hes bored or something then he goes looking for a fight because he did say he was looking forward witht eh fight with scott so maybe since that diddnt happen i think he just made one up with the high schoolers
This says about davids mental state that he has some issues because no one would start a fight for no reason unless maybe he takes advantages of being in a wheel chair but he also has lost a advantage-walking.

    ReplyDelete
  75. @Eden I did, why is it actually deadly?

    ReplyDelete
  76. WOAH! we have a quiz on rebound on Wednesday!

@Donna That disease doesn't to death but there are somethings that they cant do.

    ReplyDelete
  77. @Janat yea but how do you know the confusion look from the boys was just an act to seem innocent?

    ReplyDelete
  78. @Shelby i dont think they made any gestures because they were minding their own buisness and david i guess just made up everything or maye the boys were doing something else and david took it the wrong way because as sean said in the book they had confused faces too and then why wouldnt they confess if they had

    ReplyDelete
  79. @shelby but if you think about it, he would be jumping to a conclusion if the boys werent making fun of him, even though i couldnt blame him for that, because it did seem that they were. and my opinion is that they were making fun of them

    ReplyDelete
  80. @ shelby
no i am not saying that.
    i think david is right.

    ReplyDelete
  81. @Janati disagree i don't think David is trying to start something because he said it himself he try's to avoid fights because he doesn't want his mom to know that he getting into fights.

    ReplyDelete
  82. @Malav ohh i thought you were saying that David was wrong

    ReplyDelete
  83. @Janat, why would David be making it up, i think he telling the truth, because he would start something out of nothing they obviously did something to trigger his anger.

    ReplyDelete
  84. @Donna
that could be but then why didnt they confesss later oon and they got into a fight and an argument and they didnt mention that they make fun of them because atleast one of them seemed reasonalble and they even fought but they didnt say that they made fun of david

    ReplyDelete
  85. This means that David has a lot of things / /people bothering him everyday and I think this is wy David is so determined to get his legs back so people won't pick on him and that he would blend in with everyone else.

If Sean was right this means that David is too insecure because he thinks everyone talks about him because they point at him make a face or just laugh when he walks by.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Great conversation, 80 plus comments between 5 or 6 people

Eden amazing connections to the real world!

teenagers (ie middle school , meaning you) wouldn't make fun of a kid in a wheelchair? really. From the teacher perspective and 10 years experience it seems very likely that the boys would be making fun of him.

    ReplyDelete
  87. I only say boys because it's boys in the text.

    ReplyDelete
  88. @Janat yes but why would they even think of confessing? then theyre basicly agreeing with david's definition of them, liars.

    ReplyDelete
  89. @ Janat I agree he is focused in the people around him that maybe seem talking about him but not and he's accusing people that they're talking about him to me it just makes me think that he doesn't trust anyone that's not his friend or doesn't like them because in the begging of the book when Sean and David "fights" David didn't know Sean and he didn't seem to like him same thing with the 2 dudes and plus Sean didn't move from the ramp and those 2 tried to start fights.

    ReplyDelete
  90. @ Cheney it really depends what your personality is like because if you want to be like a " I'm all that kid" then yeah you would make fun of the dude in a wheelchair but if you were to be a person like me I would really make fun of the person in the wheelchair...

    ReplyDelete
  91. @Mr.cheney yes, its true, maybe some people will make fun of them because hes different and dont really feel sorry for him and everyone else will just feel sorry for them and treat them differently self cautiously. (including me) Im starting to understand that this is basicly a normal reaction to people who are different.

    ReplyDelete
  92. @Donna yaa sometimes people get used to their surroundings and when someone comes that different they make fun of them or sometime become friends with them because they are not used to it

    ReplyDelete
  93. i think that David might have thought that those high schoolers were talking about him but they actually were just minding there own business . i think that his mental state is that he thinks everyone is talking about him behind his back maybe because he usually gets treated like this.

    ReplyDelete
  94. @am17 what might they have done to make you think they were minding their own business and not trying to insult David

    ReplyDelete
  95. i think that David is really impacted by what has happend to him.And when people "make fun of him" it makes his feelings of his injury even worse.

    ReplyDelete
  96. @am17 good point but i think that he may have seen then pointing and laughing at david. The book does not say anything about them not doing that.

    ReplyDelete
  97. @ shelby
well i don't even think that the older kids were talking about him.do you think a high schooler would make fun of someone in a wheel chair.after all when they were about to fight one of the older kid said stop he is in a wheel chair if they say that why would they even make fun of him in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  98. @shelby yea, your post makes me think of a place where there are plenty of people in wheelchairs and plenty of people with other diseases, then i wonder how the other "normal" people will treat those people, they will be used to talking and being with those people, therefore will think that being in a wheelchair and having a disease is normal.

so im guessing its all about what we think is normal, the only reason why we treat those people differently and make fun of them is because we think that they are not normal since were not used to them.

    ReplyDelete
  99. @rohan
do you think that David is telling the truth about those older kids talking about David

    ReplyDelete
  100. @Shelby , wasnt it sean who said that he doest want his mom to know about fights i think .Also he could of gotten confused of what the high schoolers were doing because then why would sean say he saw nothing for sure also when sean came to warn david about scott , david said he as actually looking forward to it because his day looked boring

    ReplyDelete
  101. @Donna yea physically people think that David is not normal because he is in a wheelchair, but mentally he is normal and should be treated normally

    ReplyDelete
  102. @ Mr. Cheney i think it depends what kind of person you are if you are really truly nice you would not make fun of the person in a wheelchair however this book changed my mind on everything because if you are really nice you would not treat the person nice you should treat the person normally and now all this time i thought you have to be more nice to disable people but now i know the right thing to do is to treat them normally.

    ReplyDelete
  103. @Bacon strips
I think david think s and knows people make fun of him because hes ina wheel chair and thats why he proably jumps to conclusion easily

    @Donna
but if they did it( which they didnt) then they would say something like yeah so what or something like that because think its david whoz wrong

    @Mrcheney
Yes i think if there was a person in a wheel chair in our school he/she would be made fun of but not all people make fun of peoiple like and i think since david is in a wheel chair thats the reason hes so concoius of people making fun of him and if i were in his shoes i think i wouldnt jump to conclusions so easily but i would feel sad because if people would treat me differently and all ift would be annoying

    ReplyDelete
  104. @Janat no wasn't Sean the one that said he saw a bruise on Davids eye or somewhere

    ReplyDelete
  105. @ Shelby
no i do not think so David told Sean he has a bruised eye.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I think the teenagers did make fun of him because David claimed they were making actions of a person in a wheel chair..some may say but how is that true well i don’t think someone would make it look like they are in a wheel chair and look at someone in a wheel chair so it’s clearly making fun of someone .I feel really sad for David if he has to go through this every single day...because someone making fun of you because you’re in a wheel chair..its harsh they now about how funny it is that the person can’t walk but did they ever think how that person got into an accident how much pain that person went through? I think David does struggle day by day because it looks like he is eager to learn about cell regeneration and is sure that one day he will get up on his 2 feet and play basketball with Sean on the same team. I think David can’t hang on the stress of words coming out of people and making fun of him he has to strike back with anything if its words or physically he has to give them something to show i guess that just cause he can’t do something doesn’t mean he can’t do something else ... maybe to show he can’t walk but he has the power to fight.
If the boys didn’t make fun of him then why would they get so physical? Like by threatening them? They would be like dude I wasn’t doing anything! We were just talking so please I don’t want to cause conflict they would respond in that manner. Whereas they didn’t they started to argue and all giving the tough action which maybe I think David would feel embarrassed about..And would make David feel that yes people do make fun of me but not everyone it might cool down his temper and make him realize just cause someone might point at you doesn’t mean they were talking bad about him who knows they might even be talking about how they feel sorry for him or be talking about cell regeneration
    .....

    ReplyDelete
  107. @Janat why would they take pride in making fun of someone in a wheelchair? They obviously know it isnt nice, so thats why they tried to act innocent.

    ReplyDelete
  108. @shelby
i think it was david who told sean he had a bruised eye
    @Neha
i dont think the high school kids did anything but i do know that a high school kid would talk in that type of manner especially those two.Alos one of them wasnt looking toward the fight but since sean hit the first punch so then it would make them both eager to fight.I do agree that he has to go through about getting made fun of being in a wheel chair but no one has really said anything but the high schoolers to him but we all know people might sau iit behind his back but i still dont think the high schoolers did anything because as i said before they had a confused face and they ddidnt know what david was talking about.they just got angry because david was calling them , babooon s, liars and all. That would make anyone angry

  109. @twinkle toes: yes i agree teenagers can be immature but not all right? Some teens are smart and have sense of what they say and so they are very respectful etc...etc.. So would you still say the teenagers started it??? Because there are various reason why they were talking about David, they didn’t describe how the teen’s looked so they can look nerdy and be very intelligent but David just crossed the line and went to the other side of them so would you agree that David made them angry when they didn’t do anything wrong. So does this change your opinion?

    ReplyDelete
  110. @Google: yes that can be the point because a lot of us to talk with hand gestures. But hand gestures mostly move according to what you are saying, so if your pointing toward David it would kind of indicate you were talking about him and maybe he doesn’t like people talking about him.. so would you say David got in to a fight for no reason?

    ReplyDelete
  111. @neha what do you mean by "someone would make it look like they are in a wheel chair and look at someone in a wheel chair"?
    i didn't get it

    ReplyDelete
  112. @pizza: yes if we include what @google said laughing using hand gestures that point toward the person it would seem if they are making fun of the person that what I would think because think deeply what else could a person be talking about laughing and pointing to you .Like when you are sitting there what would be the first thing you’d say?? If you saw that? And they were doing it towards you?

    ReplyDelete
  113. @malav:yes it does hurt when you are being made fun of it might be fun for the other person but not for you .Being capable of doing something that someone can hurts you from the inside but you can’t do anything about it....so maybe David’s sadness turns into anger and that’s why he was yelling and insulting them.

    ReplyDelete
  114. @ neha i still think that the teenagers started it but i agree with what you said that some teenagers are really smart and mature but in my opinion a high school student would do something like this.

    ReplyDelete
  115. @pizza: i mean like pretend you are in a wheel chair i am making fun of you so i'm acting like as if i was in a wheel chair too. While doing my action i point towards so making an action of someone in a wheel chair and then pointing to someone in a wheel chair can feel offensive

    ReplyDelete
  116. @ rohan
    isnt this only normal?
wouldnt almost everyone react the same way?

    and what do you think?
    is david right or wrong?

    ReplyDelete
  117. @pizza yes i say the same the teen's did start it but just reading other peoples post and seeing if you would agree.. just trying to look at it in a different perspective. There are all types of teen's and they get sorted into groups so you cant say they are immature when u haven't even seen them before they can be nerdy but have a mean side when you cross the line

    ReplyDelete
  118. Its important to realize that David deals with this reality everyday. He sees things we can not see. This is an important reality in all things.

I can not always see racism, but a person who is discriminated against because of their skin colour may see it plain as day and wonder why I can not see it.

    ReplyDelete
  119. @ neha
that is most likely the reason.
    david is a "tough guy"
and he wants to prove that he is one
so in order to do this,
he unleashes anger instead of the emotion he may be feeling at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  120. I think that David maybe sees things that aren't true like daydreaming that I think is because he usually he gets into a hand full of fights with people who make fun of him thus he has anger issues. In conclusion I believe the only reason David gets so furious and starts fighting is because of his surrounding. Just like the real world aren't we making the others feel angry so how could you say to some one to stop. Well thats what I think. Anybody disagrees?

    ReplyDelete
  121. @ neha i would absolutely do what david did if the teenagers were pointing at me, laughing and making fun of i was in a wheel chair and was in david's place because maybe, that was the right thing to do stand up for your self SHUT THEIR MOUTHS!

    ReplyDelete
  122. @Pizza i think she means like how someone would do the acting of someone in a wheel chair because u know how they were making hand gestures by making fun od david

    ReplyDelete
  123. @ mr cheney
so what do you think david was feeling
in front of those high school guys?
do you think david was right or wrong about them making fun of him?

    ReplyDelete
  124. However, from the other perspective. David is burning with anger. He indeed sees what he want to see to justify his anger. So when Sean claims he saw nothing, then he is right. David, like with Scott, wanted a fight, something to deflect his sadness about being in a wheelchair. The highschool kids provided him with the opportunity to explode.

Remember David told Sean that his mother describes him as "careless"

    ReplyDelete
  125. *I mean not daydreaming
i think that david might see more than sean or might be mistaken

    ReplyDelete
  126. I think they are both right.

Sean knows what he saw, and that was nothing

David knows what he saw, and that was a couple of kids making fun of him

and in the end they both act according to what they believe. Thus, they both lived through the same moment and have come away with 2 different versions of reality.

and we learn that this means the world around us is different for everybody. Because we all look at the same things and have a vastly different understanding of what we just saw.

remember this story is about us!

    ReplyDelete
  127. @malav: exactly as i don’t remember when but there was a post about how come David and Scott don’t get along when they have the same personality ...David wants to be tough he wants to be the one not cause he wants to be cool like Scott its because people think he in no on and is nothing he is at the bottom of the pyramid

    ReplyDelete
  128. Again, this is an outstanding post.

so much better the two weeks ago.

    ReplyDelete
  129. @ mr cheney
    couldnt careless be used
because david always tries to pick a fight with who ever gets them mad and/or sad?
it has to do with the wheelchair, but it was about david being made fun of.

    ReplyDelete
  130. @Mr.Cheney:exactly ..We can say they both are right because there is proof from both sides we won’t be able to get a secure answer if we don’t get more information on the teen’s as in are they popular? How are they really in class and school, how do they look once we get these answers we will for sure be able to chose one another side so basically all we need is more ....more about the teen’s .Because if we don’t know how they look how will we know anything further than them because if they look like a nerd how will they be popular? And all of our answers just goes on to more and more questions than at a point just stops ...we can’t figure out what is right because there is an maximum amount of attestation for both people to be right

    ReplyDelete
  131. @ mr cheney
( this is the post you made before)
i wouldnt make fun of a person like david.
i get onto my island, and dont notice, but i go straight to the inequality pyramid.
i feel sorry for them, and instaed of making fun of him, i would help him, and
be thinking what type of people would make fun of a guy in a wheelchair?

    ReplyDelete
  132. @ Neha my point as well, is that regardless of more information or facts. People believe what they see, and ultimately we never all see the same thing, even if we are both staring at the same scene. Our biases and characteristics lend itself to seeing what we want, need, hope to see.

    ReplyDelete
  133. @Mr.Cheney and pizza: YES! everyone has their sides of anger and cant hold it in like Mr.Cheney when a class is being very bad your not just going to sit there you will get upset and pizza if someone keeps on bothering you and poking you will will yell stop cause its bothering you just the same way David got annoyed of seeing them point toward him and just EXPLODED!

    ReplyDelete
  134. @ mr cheney
    so this is like court.
2 different stories, but same setting.
we are trying to find out what had really happen.
so this is a pretty tough case.
hopefuly we find out what had happened.

    ReplyDelete
  135. @Mrcheney i agree, i both sean and dvaid had their own version of the same moment and their own though and veiws about what happened. But we stil have to think about that which one we think happened and agree on

    ReplyDelete
  136. @Mr.Cheney:yes we all look at the situation from a different angle like we all grab a point and wont let go until a strong fact kills their's.We all are balling our idea's and getting stronger

    ReplyDelete
  137. @Malav i think that is the thing david doesnt like -symbathay for him, just because hes in a wheel chair people underestimate him and they shouldnt

    ReplyDelete
  138. @ true...if someone will bother me i will yell or try to stop them just like david did to those high school student but me and david are totally different david cannot control his anger but, i could so maybe if i was in his place wouldn't have taken it too far

    ReplyDelete
  139. @pizza:yes we cant compare you and David but think about it you would get angry thats the part that add with us

    ReplyDelete
  140. @ janat
    that is true.
but again, it is the way i think, and that is just david,
couldnt it be possible that others like the sympathy that they get?
david takes advantage of that with some teachers, but not with others (except maybe his parents, or sean's parents).
there are people who want others to help them, and show that they need to be treated differently.

    ReplyDelete
  141. @ Malav, nope not like a court case. Not trying to assume one is right and the other is wrong, rather a philosophical view that they are both right, because of the reasons i highlighted above.

    ReplyDelete
  142. @Malav
Yes , but i dont think david likes feeling different and out , i think he wants to be treated the same and thats why he is really determined to get his legs back and fit in.Mybe other might like it and might even take adavntage of it and use it to get out of many things like trouble.
Yes , some like being treted like their special and that they need help in their everyday life but that cant be david. Not of what i've seen of him

    ReplyDelete
  143. @ mr cheney
    ok.
so i guess all of us were right?

    @ janat
yes david is "different" from a lot of people
but he acts, and lives like any other person would.
if you dont notice the wheelchair, he looks like an ordinary guy, living an ordinary life.
it is the wheelchair that throws that all away to people who have just met david.

    ReplyDelete
  144. @malav: yes we will all be right but you will be wrong with no proof..for ex. AND MR.CHENEY TELL ME IF IM WRONG.:i say David is right=becuase he says the boys were giving signals and laughing toward David so he felt that he was being made fun of.
someone else says NO! David started the fight=because David was the one that stood up and started to fight Then i third person says I was right=because of my proof but the other person can be right too because they have proof so the third person will be wrong because both sides have equal proof meaning they both HAVE proof

    ReplyDelete
  145. @ neha
    i understand
    in a confused way.

so our proof is what we visualize during the scene.

    ReplyDelete
  146. The proof is in their observations. Whatever they "see" to be real to them, is indeed their reality.

I'm going deeper then proof, I'm in the philosophical world, arguing that there is not 1 reality or truth but rather an infinite amount.

the world we see is our reality...but David and Sean have demonstrated that our realities can differ even when confronted with the same situation.

    ReplyDelete
  147. @ Malav, we is not the reader we, it is we being David or Sean

    ReplyDelete
  148. @Mr.Cheney: HI MR.CHENEY! Its Natasha,I just wanted to ask if this Wednesday I can come and volunteer in your class.

P.S sorry to contact you on the blog spot that was the only way I could get a hold of you.Guys do deeper thinking do what you feel and put all your thoughts in. It will get you a very good mark!

    ReplyDelete
  149. Yes, Natasha, you can come in Wednesday. Check in with the office.

    and thanks for the tips!

    ReplyDelete
  150. If David was right, he has to deal with this bullying/ judging practically everyday. I think his mental state wouldn't be very good because he would just have anger management.
If Sean's right then I think David is so used to this behaviour that he is not kind of expecting it. Who knows? Those teenagers could have just been doing the catdaddy!

    ReplyDelete
  151. @Neha teenagers can be really mean and disrespectful, but David didn't give them the chance to talk because he was mouthing word to them and insulting them so that's how this whole fight started.

    ReplyDelete
  152. I think that the teenager did make fun of him because The teen were right behind Sean so he could not see but David could see because he was facing Sean.
Sean probaly said that they didn't do it because he already knew that David would blast into angar and cause a fight.

    ReplyDelete
  153. I think the teenagers did make fun of David because you know how teenagers can be and maybe they thought that this kid looks different then us so we should make fun of him and make him feel uncomfortable.
I think David was right about them, maybe they did make fun of David and what this sais about the day to day struggles that David has to deal with is that David has to go through many things in his life because of his mental state.
I bet whenever he see's people doing stuff he can't do he probably feels left out and he also feels like doing things that they are doing but he can't because of his chair.

    ReplyDelete
  154. If david was right and the boys did make fun of he has to put up with people who do this to him everyday, make fun of him, or think he is not normal because hes in a wheelchair.David has to go throught this everyday he must of be so mad of people treating him different that every time if someone does something that david thinks that there making fun of him or judging him he would back fire at them. If the boys did not make fun of david its just david and sean see things differently that fight david sees this in a way that the did make fun of him because david has to deal with this everyday of his life from then on and sean sees as if nobody did make fun of david because sean doesnt know what david has to go throght everyday and sean only sees he made fun of him not david. Everyone would see this in a different way depending on what happened to david and sean.

    ReplyDelete
  155. @lisa: I agree. David does want to be a normal person. He wants everyone to treat him like a regular person and no one to make fun of him.

    ReplyDelete
  156. I don't think those kids made fun of david becuase when david kept yelling at them they didn't know who he was talking to when they where coming close to him and they where lost. But david is maybe mad so he's just tring to get his temper out on someone so he just started the fight.

    ReplyDelete
  157. There both right no one is wrong they both have different views on the incident tht happened
