Hello Team,
David's mother delivered a crushing message when she told us about the chances of David walking again. She told Sean, that he had to get on with his life or he could waste it away waiting for a cure that likely won't happen. David seemed so confident he would walk soon. We as readers were confident as well he would walk.
On top of this David has just been rejected by Lisa and had an embarrassing incident peeing his pants. Knowing David and how he reacts to situations what can you predict is going to happen next?
Can you relate to David in any way? The idea that nothing is going right in your life. How did you cope?

i think that David won't talk about the rejection by Lisa to Sean because it's probably embarrassing for him (Lisa is the first girl who rejected him) but again its because before he was not in a wheelchair and now he is.
ReplyDeletei think that David won't go to school after that day, Sean will call him a few times but David either won't pick up or his mom will make some excuse. David won't want to go in front of Sean because he peed in his pants in front of Sean and its allot more embarrassing than we can ever imagine.
even though most of us were think that david will get better we might be wrong because after the mother said it could take 30 years there is nothing left to do but try harder.

i can not relate to this because not alot of people have major troubles like david and these people do have a bad life unlike us who gets mad when they break something.

I don't think David would even want to discuss what happened with him because i think it must have been really embarrassing but its really hard for David.His life is a lot harder than most of ours and i don't think i can really relate to him as much but my life is that hard compared to Davids.
ReplyDeleteI can relate but it wasn't really as hard as Davids.It was just that in Pakistan i was really eager to come back by September and i figured out i had to stay another month, i was angry and annoyed.The longer i though about it the harder it seemed.But later on as long as i kept myself busy on random things the went went by.

I think david got over lisa rejecting him.that why i think he dosent talk about lisa rejecting or feel sad because i think he was probably not expecting lisa to say yes.but i think david trust sean and probably hopes he understand what life is like after sean spent a day on a wheelchair so david probably trust sean to not tell anyone that he wet his pants

@Am17 i agree i think its going to be very hard for David because he has a strong belief in getting his legs back but his parents and other people know that research might take a very long time to be actually accomplished

I think David will act David very differently. Because now Sean has found out more than David wanted him to know as he already ave enough to feel pity about David. Which now may cause some trouble as David will know change his perspective of Sean.

ReplyDelete@ jan101 maybe he was unsure because even david knows that his life is totally different than before. in the book he mentioned that none of the girl has ever said no to him but that's because he was not on the wheelchair before but now he is. Lisa would probably want to dance with someone who walks and can enjoy the dance along with her rather than dancing with someone who is on the wheelchair.

I think that the next day david will not talk with any body, sean lisa christina or caroline. i also think that hes going to sit alone at lunch.Or maybe he would go up to sean and demand why he brought up the topic of the project. and i think he will threaten sean to not tell anybody about the incedent. but i still think that seean is going to go tell lisa everything, and she would feel pitty then go with david.
ReplyDeletei sorta have a connection between david and me. So last year we were working on making or science project move, it was a truck.And it was due the next day, so i took home the motors and everything. every time i attactched the gear or a moter, it would fall off.this kept happening for about three hours, than thankfully i stuck it on. but a couple minutes later was a blackout, and when i tried to turn my motors on, they were dead. so the next day we went to school, and we had to give the project in later, luckily my group had a 10% bonus on a project and we got a 100%
@janat it would kind of make sense because he knows he is in a wheelchair and the answer might be no.

@Prahbjot I think there is a chance David is going to confront Sean about bringing the topic up of the project because at that time they both didn't know the conversation was going to get to that. But as we always say David is very complex so we never know what his next actions are going to be.

@Mrcheney I think its a really hard time in david life because he has a lot of things to face and none of them are easy.Like one -simply being in a wheel chair angers him Two-he got rejected and doesnt wanna show it through it probaly hurts him alot Three-the liittle incident he had while dinner and Four- No one really believes he'll get his legs back anytime and its put on him hard

I dont think he'll have an easy time Coping with it and to add on hes in a wheelchair doesnt have anything proper of his memories and i think it seems like him doing dangerous things is a way for him to suicide but a way not too make it obvious and yea like him picking a fight with the teenager and what not a way too make everything worst and the Wendys manager?? same thing he wants something too go wrong thats what i think
ReplyDeleteI can see that Davis is in a very tough place right know and is thinking how to get out of this big mess. It is safe to say that we all felt embarrassed before and we all know we don't like that feeling. I would try my best to get out of this mess. Mostly I would try to make everything better if everyone.

I think next Sean will ask David about how he felt when he got rejected by Lisa and had his mom say that news to his friends that made him real mad but I know think that he will just admit to Sean that he might not be able to walk but in a serious tone and have those long talks with him again.
ReplyDeleteI can barely relate to David now because, I cannot relate to his bad luck happening that happens just like his bag leaking put down by Lisa then comes him not listening to his mom that he most likely won't be able to walk again for a while I would get mad and not listen to my mom too if I was in a wheelchair that way I would have that special determination to walk again and not be looked down upon by others.

ReplyDeleteDavid usually becomes violent and harsh in these situations. But, I don't think David is going to act this way. I think he is going to be very embarrassed and refuse to talk about it. I think Sean will get the vibes and drop it. Maybe, it will result in another scene when they are both crying.

Later on, sean will realise what david is doing and ask him how he felt when he peed his pants and getting rejected.

then david had peed his pants,
and so him and tiny left, and then david's mom and sean talked about david not walking again.
his mom had said that they couldnt tell david that he may not walk again, and a vure may take more than 30 years.
his mom said that david had to move on and
get on and accept the fact that he is in a wheelchair, and may not ever walk again.
in addition to that i also think that David is going to get embarrassed because he has never told anyone about his problem except for his parents

I cant relate this to me but I can relate this to an article which is gay teens the gay people got humiliated just like how David was humiliated in front of Sean. David and the article both get humiliated because of things they do and because of who they are. In these 2 stories there are the same story of being humiliated but in different way by different people of no people.

ReplyDeleteDavid is confident that he will walk again, he thinks that there is going to be a cure in years from now, even when him walking again wont happen, his mother told sean that the doctors dont want david to think that he is going to walk again because its unlikely. But david remains confident.

how i relate to david? well, that happened when i went to my moms practice. me, my mom, my uncle and aunt were hungry on the way so we bought samosas so when we reach there we can eat. i was the first one to start eating since the practice already started when we reached. i was eating nice warm and crisp samosas and when i was done all of a sudden the sauce leaked out of the tissue and it dripped on my pants. i felt like i looked like a fool. then my other uncles friends son, whos some how a close friend of mine came to the practice too.( it was a good thing he didnt see or else my day would be embarrising) on top of that when i reach home my little cousin whos 3, strarts laughing at me. that was cold. also it was a sunday, and i forgot to do my math homework! first just to get a little break, i watched tv, nd the next thing you know is that its 11 at night and i still dont have my math done! i was sleepy so i decided to sleep. i rold my mom to wake me before she leaves, so i can finish my homework. i did all the questions, but i ended up being late. since i was late i had no time for breakfast and i was hungry!!!

I think some of our minds will change and now we will think that David will never be better because David’s parents said that it would take around 25-30 years to finish the research on spine regeneration even if they are progressing very well.
ReplyDeleteI think David will try to hide everything and show that he is okay and it's not a big deal being rejected, but inside he’s hurting because it’s the first time he’s ever been rejected. I also think that David will trust Sean not to tell anyone about the “accident”.
I can’t relate this to me because I have never come to the point where everything is going wrong in my life, but I can relate this to the article about gay teens. I say this because the gay teens also get humiliated just like how David got humiliated when the “accident” happened. They both also get treated differently except that David gets treated differently than the gay teens ( nicely )
@ tulsi i think what you said is right. i think that sean will try to get david's mind abit aff of staying focused on getting up again unlike some other people are saying that sean will talk to david about it. i dont think that sean will talk to david about it he doesn't have the guts to say that. in addition some of the people are saying that sean will tell david about rejection but i agree with you he will try to make them both go together instead of talking to him about it and making him embarrassed and mad.

ReplyDelete@Belieber, I agree. I'm not saying they won't find a cure, but I just think that it will be a long time until they do. Maybe they will find a definite cure when David is an elderly citizen. By then, he would get used to the wheelchair lifestyle and maybe his interest for basketball will simmer down.

ReplyDeleteIf David's gone from home do you think he could be anywhere? Okay?, Hurt?. Needs some time to himself after his Mom broke out the "truth". I think he's perfectly fine playing ball somewhere, prefferably on the court in which the y met the teenage boys. Pondering on whats next and what he's gonna do after he ditches his wheelchair. Maybe play ball, without a wheelchair. Walk to school, without a wheelchair. Go to Sean's without climbing stairs, without a wheelchair. I mean the wheelchair has such impact on him mentally.
