Valkyrie

Hello Team,

Write a review of the movie Valkyrie.

Did it inform you?

Was it useful to watch it?

What part did you find the most powerful?

Would you recommend it and why?

  1. Valkyrie informed me in a sense that it made me aware of how the politics were in the time of the holocaust. I find that the ending was powerful because it gave me a reality check on how real life would end and that their is rarely a happy ending. For an operation like valkyrie, it was almost certain that it would fail and the people knew it, but they still went with it for the people of Berlin, knowing that they would die. I would recommend this movie just because of how realistic it was to me.

  2. Valkyrie was probably the most realistic film i watched. It informed me on how the war wasnt just bombing cities, rushing beaches, or just plain massacre. It taught me how the politics were involved just as much as the soldiers. like donna, the most powerful part was the end. i say this because, i never knew that if you had done a "crime" which i dont think they did, would be excecuted. Im pretty sure the people involved in the politics of this were probably 99% certain this would kill hitler. But they probably also knew that failure means death. so overall it was a good movie, also i would recommend it to anyone

  4. Valkyrie is a grate movie to showcase how much the soldiers put in to do one job. It informs me because it tells me how difficult that time period was when Adolf Hitler was the main problem for everyone. It proves how much deaths accured as soon as he had taken position.

To me it was useful to watch because I did not know as much what was happening during the time period. When I watched the video, then I was able to understand much more what was going on. I also learned that Hitlers own people were trying to kill him as well because of his action that he has done.

The part that I found most powerful was that how Sergent Carnel was able to get help from the people to kill Hitlar. That was powerful to me because he is trying to kill Hitler because of his action and what he has done. To me that is a big thing because he step up to everyone and told what he wants to be done and what might happen.

I would recommend this movie because it is a true based fact about what happen during then. I wouldn't recommend it to everyone but only to the people that are 13+ because the language that they use is not for everyone. Also the guns and other stuff.

  5. @prabjot: I agree. Why does he put the eye he lost back on?

  6. valkyrei was a very good film.
    it taught me a lot.
i always thought that all of germany was with hitler, and that none of them were against him.
this taught me that there were people who didnt want hitler in power like rest of the world.

it did inform me about what people had gone through to try and kill hitler, but hadnt succeeded.

i definitely thought it was useful to watch.
    we learned many things;
especially since the movie was real.

i found the ending the most powerful.
they were so close, everything was going smoothly, until they found out hitler is still alive.
how can hitler survive the blast?
the bomb was right under him!
    that shouldve killed him.
    then, they all die.
    i couldnt believe that.
they all died and got caught because of that one guy that betrayed them.
he also shot staphenberg in the arm.
but the person who had caused this was the driver.
he came back to the wolf's lair and told them.

    i would recommend this movie.
    i found it very interesting,
and a movie that keeps building up suspence.

    good question.
that was a fake eye that he put on.
the only time he put it on was the first meeting at the wolf's lair.
he must have put it on to look more formal maybe.

    that was a fake eye.
a replacement, not the actual one.

  9. before mr cheney
    showed us the movie,
he said that this was the final assasination atempt.
which meant that they didnt succeed.
i kept that in mind as we watched, but it looked as though everything was all going as planned, and the wolf's lair was blown up,
i thought for sure that hitler was dead.
this had a very unexpected twist.

  10. This movie was very realistic and informed because I learned a lot more about German, Hitler and people against.I didn't even know people wanted to assassinate him , i just through people were against him and he decided to kill himself in the shock.
It was useful to watch because it was intense and I actually thought they might succeed. Also it gave me information on alot of things i don't know and wouldn't have known if i didn't watch the movie.
The part I found most powerful was when Sargent Carnell, and a bunch of other ministers/soldiers were taking in control over small parts of German.Even if they were small parts , it took a whole army to take over and someone to give the proper commands.I think the Sargent was a very good leader for his place. All the leaders committed to the Valkyrie mission died.A pretty saddening ending.
Yes, i would recommend the movie because it realistic and very powerful. Also informational if your into war and all and want to learn the facts and all. Also its a great movie and i think it was directed pretty well too.

  11. @ malav ok
and the day after he lost his eye he had the actal one in the container for the movie so im guessing it is not fake

today after interviews i went to rent a movie, and i was looking for saving private ryan, but i fond storming juno, was that the canadian side or a whole different story

  13. It did inform me that how much the people had to go though at that time how the politics worked back then. If they didn't cooperate then they would be arrested because they knew about the plan.

It's useful but to me not so much I learned how the politics worked and how much trouble people got into if they failed. But, when I watch the movie I just watch it I don't really pay attention to the story line which I think we are suppose to but I don't... Well only some movies I do like Saving Private Ryan I like action packed movies move Valkyrie has some action scenes but no through out the whole movie.

I would say where the bomb detonated in the conference room because it caught me off guard because I though the bomb would have failed to explode but it just happened all of a sudden which was really intense.

I would recommend this movie to other people because it's a great movie, based on a true story, interesting how the some Germans betrayed Hitler even thought they gave Oath I think that's the reason why they died and well because they tried to assassinate Hitler.

Was the plan really called Valkyrie?

  14. @ Jan101 yes the movie is very very powerful and very intense I've thought the same thing you have I've always thought that only the other countries wanted Hitler gone but when I watched the movie I was confused that I see Germans trying to assassinate Hitler. Did you know why Hitler committed suicide?

  15. @ BlackRanger doesn't it seem that if the higher ranking people don't join they are blackmailed because they don't join or just arrested?

People in those days where to easy to trick because it's all about the paper work and if the paper work says to do this they just do it.

  16. Did you know that Adolf Hitler could have taken over Russia but didn't people that time of the year it wasn't suppose to snow but then it snowed and the army had no warm clothes to wear and froze to death Hitler didn't give them winter gear because it would slow the army down so they would take over then bring heavy artillery.

  17. The eye was put in for formal occasions

Hitler killed himself in a bunker underneath Berlin, the Soviet Red Army was coming and Berlin was destroyed, he didn't want to be captured and tortured

  18. I liked this movie it was sad and I learned a lot from watching this movie. I think this movie was useful of watching because the people that don't know all the things people put on the line for freedom. I had a few parts in the movie that I found powerful, witch are when they put a bomb in the meeting and when they where taking things over and when they where getting arrested and getting shot, I think these part where the most powerful parts in the movie because it was the most touching and sad parts and I learned a lot from these parts in the movie.

  19. Im Finally back on the blog and i think the movie was very factual and true because from the shows i watched about Attempts at killing Hitler they matched and i would recemond it to ones that didnt know about the assassination attempts and what not

Storming Juno is also a very good movie...
But it also has quite a bit is violence, just like saving private Ryan.

  22. I really enjoyed this movie. It was very informing I learned more about the attempt to kill Hitter and that not everything had a happy ending and the result is bound to go one way or another. The most powerful part for me was when Staffenburg and the others got arrested and shot because it's just sad but pleasing to know that people didn't care about the consequences of what could happen the only care are about the freedom of their country and the world. I would defiantly recommend this movie because it because it is informative and has everything to offer for example drama, action, adventure and more.

  23. @Janat same I thought they were going to succeed as well because I am used to watching movies that always have a happy ending, but in reality it rarely happens like that

    ReplyDelete
  24. @Word Nerd:Do know why they were against Hitler? Any thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  25. @Shelby: What age would you recommend?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Good questions Black Ranger!

@Shelby, yes we are trained to expect the happy ending, but movies and books are often romanticized.

    ReplyDelete
  27. @ Shelby, yes everyone expects a happy ending even it doesn't happen and its unrealistic. Also that part was very powerful at the end but i didnt get who stood in front of him and got shot right before him?

@Greenranger, how would winter gear have stopped them and i think that is a greedy act of Hitler

@Blackranger,I think the age group would be around 13 or higher because it rally matters if the person can watch the scenes and the intensity even through there isn't many violence scenes mostly until the end

  28. @anurag
I'm not sure, but it may be because of the holocaust.
And also because they must have seen flaws about hitler,
And how he wasn't fit to bring Germany into
    Glory.
Or it was because of hitlers cruelty.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yes this movie indeed did inform me about what the people were willing to do for us I just thought that if they go into a war with a different country it doesn't mean that one part of that country cannot betray the same position for the people's good so the people that were a threat could also be our best friend.

It was very useful to watch Valkyrie because it gave us a whole different aspect of war and the Nazi's could still be a friend, in some way.So war doesn't just mean I don't like them we declare war. It has a more in depth feeling into
    it.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yes, the film is for an older and knowledgeable audience.

Although a few in Germany tried to end Nazi rule I would be very cautious about using words like "friends" there are many other cruel things that were happening.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I would recommend this too 10 years old and over. I recommend this to 10 years and over because it has some parts that younger kids then 10 years old shouldn't see but if it didn't have parts like that in side of it everyone can watch it because they should know what happened and what people did for us.

  32. Too me i think that They were against Hitler because they wanted Germany to be the Strongest country in the world and since Hitler was losing the fight they got annoyed and wanted to kill him causing them to be in charge and they thought they would be able to lead Germany to winning the War and im guessing thats why

    ReplyDelete
  33. @ redranger
i dont think that was the case because surely they were winning the war. ad they risked their lives to get him killed, they wouldent have done that if they wanted to be incharge. So i think they were against him for the bad deeds he was doing like killing jews, people without blonde hair blue eyes. i dont know but im sure they didnt do it for power

    ReplyDelete
  34. They wanted a peaceful end of the war, Nazi Germany was losing, and their complete and total destruction was inevitable by 1944. They wanted to surrender and not fight to the very very end.

  36. I enjoyed this movie. It informed me of how much work, sacrifice and thought go into plans like this, even though it was not 100% successful. I would definitely recommend it to my family. We see the highlights on the news and think that is it, but there is much more to that. In this movie I got to see how much they sacrificed and all the results.
