i think that David was in a car accident i think this happened before the school started and before he moved to a new home.
ReplyDeletei think David got in a car accident as in my text to self connection i read this book that a boy got in a car accident and he lived but his father didnt i think this happend because what also hapend was that the mother decided to move when the father died,as david moved and came to this school and when he got in his accident he got paralized therefor he was not able to walk anymore.

ReplyDeleteUsally when you get an a car accident you would get paralyzed beacause the car crushes your spine and when your your spine gets crushed the information from your spine to your bain stops so thats why when you get hit by a car you can possibly become paralyzed.

I think David was in a car accident, (the most common one) and it probably happened a year ago, because it only takes one year for someone to get use to it, like David is. Maybe Sean calls his little sisters boo boos just to make fun of them, a boo boo would be an injury in "toddler language." I guess Sean considers his little sisters a pain, just like a boo boo.
ReplyDeleteDavid probably wanted to prove himself or impress Sean for getting up the stairs and he probably already seen the ramp that Sean put.
Maybe the author didn't tell us about Scott Nick and Gavin because maybe later in the book David and Sean will see them in the office and Scott will have to explain what happened. Or maybe it's because the main character/narrator wasn't in that scene...
I think that David was in a truck accident. He must of got surgery and his leg must of failed the surgery.

i think david either fell off a big hill and got his legs paralysed, or he might have been in a car accident that paralysed his legs forever. i think that this all happened about 5-8 years ago, only because he is very use to the wheel chair.

This reminds me of a book called Ping Pong there was this kid who had the same thing as David they were both in a wheel chair, because his dad ran over his legs by accident.

David wanted to use the front door because he was trying to either prove a point or just do it because he thinks he's cool. The point he trying to prove is that he doesn't need to take the easy way up he challenges himself to get to places and to reach his goals.
The author didnt tell us about Scott, Nick and Gavin because the author keeps us interested and thinking about what happend to them or, they got caught by either the Police or Mr.McCully.
i think sean calls his sisters "the boo boos" because they irritate everyone in the family or maybe hes trying to tease them by saying they are ghosts and/or ugly.

ReplyDeleteI think that kind of accient was a car accient, but in a differnt way. Since David is a bully, I think he used to chill with people older than him. Since he is also good in Basketball, I think he used to play Basketball with his older "friends". I also think that he used to live in a place that was more of a ghetto. I think the accient happened by that he was playing Basketball with his friends, and they had a bet of who would win. And since we all know that David is very good in Basketball, he won. I think that his older "friends" didn't wanna give his winning bet prize. As we all know that David has a VERY high temper, so they decided to run him over with one of there cars. I think this happened about a year ago. David used the front door because, he did say earlier that he doesn't want to be trearted differntly. Remember when Sean didn't hold the door for him when they went into the store? He replied to that saying clearly don't treat me like some guy in a wheelchair, but like your friend that you would hold the door for. The two sisters are called the Boo Boo's because they are most likly to be twins. I know alot of twins and the alwas have a fun names giving by other people. The author doesn't tell us about Scott and his "gang" because the author didn't find that really inportant. I think I would rather find out what is going on with David,Sean and the girls than whats going on with Beer people. I'm pretty sure that they won't do anything extreme. I'm not calling dancing in front of your whole school extreme, but it is more extreme than drinking beer.

ReplyDeleteDavid's condition sort of reminds me a 20 year old girl i know, she has MS from the waist down i think it was because of a car accident, she doesn't need a wheelchair but she can't move very well. Not too many people treat her differently because her condition isn't noticable, she just walks a little slower then most people. She's happy that not too many people notice her and her condition. But she does get attention, maybe just not as much as David does.

ReplyDeleteI have a different example than the others David must have been in a basketball team and have dislocated his knee bone. Because if you get paralyzed you aren't able to move with your spine and about all of us use our spine about every second of our life.

he can move his hands, and talk and everything, but he cant walk.

I think that maybe he got into an accident, not a car accident but, a car was involved. David was probably playing basketball in his driveway and sat down for a rest. His father not knowing that he was sitting down got into the car, and put it into reverse and started backing up David realizing that his father was backing up he couldnt do anything anything fast enough. His dad ran over his legs and he was paralyzed knee down. His dad rushed him to the hospital but it wasn't fast enough.
ReplyDeleteThe sisters of Sean are called the Boo Boo sisters because they always cry for things, whine for things, and Sean hates how they get it. A little bit of sibling rivalry if you consider it like that. He's probably jelous that he can't whine and complain and get things just like that. Or maybe it's because they look alike and have a twin name. For Example Dilkas used to call Tarundeep and Varundeep "twinkies" (even though he has a twin brother himself).
David was so keen and so fast to get through the front door because maybe he wanted to show that he is coming through the door and the parents should know he's coming inside, maybe he still holds that moral belief or value since he was a kid with all his friends. Or maybe he just saw the front door and not the side one and just climbed it, he didn't know that Sean set up a ramp.

I dont know, I guess i think that a part of David is the part that likes Sean as a friend and would wanna impress him. Just because David told Sean the reason why he likes him is because Sean treats David like any other person.

ReplyDelete@Sana i dont think by playing by a rock you can get paralyzed. But you can trip and fall over and hurt yourself. It also depends how big the rock is for example, if it is a realy HUGE rock than thats diffrent you can just move the rock somewhere else not near you and start playing the game. If it was a tiny pebble-like rock you can just play but i think you should be playing basketball on pavement or basketball court.

ReplyDeleteI think that the boo-boos also known as Jaime and Julia are just your typical 4 year old toddlers. They are really curious about what happened to Scott. Sean might call them the Boo-Boos because they always annoy him and whine. Gor, example there bed time. So whenever Sean dares to call them the Boo-Boos they tell on him.

ReplyDeleteI think David was in a major basketball accident like there are many ways to get into an accident but because of the story it’s about Sean and David and in the cover David is holding a basketball and so far in the book David seems like a basketball player. I think it might be a basketball accident like maybe David didn’t like basketball he LOVED basketball but he wasn’t that cool of a person and didn’t have any friends so maybe he was the dorky kids one day he stood up for himself and BOOM! The best basketball player came shooting down at him. The team captain started playing UN fair and disobeyed the game of basketball; he kept on tripping or pushing/shoving David. There are many ways for someone to end up in a wheel chair either it’s from a game to a major car accident.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the when girls are called Boo Boo’s because maybe Sean was born he couldn’t say their names properly so the called he them boo boo. Like when i was young in our culture there is a special name you call your dad’s sister. We (me and my sister) weren’t able to pronounce it properly and then that’s when we started calling her a different name but its similar. And even now me and my sister still call her by the name we called her when we were young it becomes a habit and it will continue carrying with your life. Its just like biting nails if u did it when u were a kid it won’t just stop when u grow up it will continue and if u want it to stop then u will have to do something about it.
I think David is so keen to use the front because he doesn’t want special treatment from other people because maybe always people make special things for him because has in a wheel chair another reason might be because he wants to show to people just cause has in a wheel chair doesn’t mean he has the ability to do anything. So he wants to prove he can be like any other person by coming inside the house by the front door even though there are a lot of steps even more than the side. Another reason might be it is respectful going inside of a house to meet a family walk through the proper entrance .It’s just like going to the Acc. You can take the wrong entrance and feel sad and bad and also scared that they might catch you but if u walk through the right door and pay u won’t feel sad bad or scared. You respected the rules properly.

ReplyDelete@the sauce boss:where was David sitting down like on a chair or on the driveway because if he was on the driveway then it makes sense but if hes on a chair...it doesn't really make sense.Also David took a break at the end of the driveway? But how couldn't his father see him. Because if he was on a chair you should be able to see but i can see you might be predicting that he is short in size
ReplyDelete@donna i think i would be a little curious to like sean about what happened to david but i won't ask david directly that what happen to him.unlike the boo-boos i will understand how davids going to feel after i ask him the question.but the boo-boos don't understand that so i don't think they are really mean or anything i think it just that they are young and don't know how david will feel about after they ask him that question.

@ Neha i would have thought that David was in an accident because he might have been in a car crash and someone close to him might have been driving the car and cause his accident. As i said before its more likely to be paralyzed by getting hit by a car then playing basket ball.
ReplyDeleteI say this because once you get hit by a car the car wheels will crush your spine. WHen your spine is crushed it will no longer be able to send information from your spine to your brain and also your nerves. David was paralyzed from the waist down. From that accident it resulted him to be in a wheel chair.
@ neha but, since sean is 13 and his sisters r 4 that means that sean is 9 years elder than them so, when they were born he was 9 years old and he was old enough to say their names properly.
ReplyDeleteI think that the author didnt mention the scene because the reader already predicted what was going to happen. Gavin had stolen a 12-packed beer from his house and they were going outside the dance to drink it.
ReplyDeleteI wanted Mr.Mculley to find out they were drinking and get them into trouble so bad that it could lead to suspension are even worse.
@ Neha that's a nice inference about David being a dork and all. How did you get that idea, what inspired you to think that way because I thought it was a family accident, like maybe someone got into a serious fight. I think that David's background was always being a "bully" as you say but I think him as a super genius just the way Mr.Cheney does with Thamil. And I like your connection about enunciation that's a really new perspective. Cool!

ReplyDelete@ neha its true that if you enter from the wrong entrance people can catch you but, sean or his family wouldn't have cached david because they knew that he will be coming from the side door but, it makes sense that david didn't know that sean setup a ramp for him or even if he saw it maybe, he didn't want to go through it because he wanted to act like normal guests and didn't want to have special treatment.

ReplyDelete@ abeeshan maybe,david's background was always being a bully but, it can also be that his parents don't treat him the way they treat his sister and brothers(if he has any) and neither does anyone else treats him normal that is why he looses his temper really easily.
ReplyDeletei said that because whenever my younger brother gets sick he gets all moody and mad all the time and my mom says that its normal. often when people gets sick they cant control their anger so, maybe its the same thing with david. how he got paralyzed and now everyone treats him differently made him moody and mad but i think that once he will get better he will change
@ twinkle toes i would have setup a ramp for him bcuz it will help him to get on properly not too make him feel bad but after all its david's choice he can go from wherever he wants to go from

ReplyDeleteI think Sean calls his two little sisters boo boo's because when they where little he thinks they where really cut and then he started calling them boo boo's now they got a little older now they don't like it.
David used the front door because he wants to show Sean's family that hes different then the other wheel chair so they don't treat him like hes really slow and they have to talk slow.
I think hes going to tell use the next time we read rebound because that's what people like to do they like to show the people after.
David wants the front door for the same reason he doesn't want anybody pushing his chair. He wants and expects the same as everybody else. Thus he wants the front door the way anyone else would come to the front door

ReplyDeleteumm......i changed my mind. i won't setup a ramp due to the same reason. david doesn't want special treatment he wants to be treated normal but, sean never setup the ramp to make david feel bad he just setup that to make it easier for david to up and thats what i was saying putting the ramp will make it easier but as shelby and mr.cheney mentioned that david doesn't wants special treatment i won't setup the ramp either

ReplyDelete@Neha thats so truee. You always want to be elegant and have a good behaviour when going to someones house. You dont want to make a bad empression on yourself and David acted like a normal guest and came through the front door. Just because hes in a wheelchair doesnt mean he cant get up a few steps.

how is it possible to get paralyzed by playing basketball? in my own perspective i think that is not possible. The worst case senerio would be hurting your ankles and falling.Can you guys tell me how you can get paralyzed from playing basketball?
