Terry Fox 4 - Team Work and Leadership

Good evening Team!

Yankee game starts in one hour.

Importantly we had the highest level of participation for the Terry Fox drive.  That is Awesome.
However we spent a lot of time today talking about Leadership and Teamwork.  I described it as A+ or F, and described in great detail the lasting impacts of our actions here in influencing our success later.

What do you think about what we talked about today? Did you learn anything? Do you agree or disagree?  How will this impact our next Team project?

  1. i think
that i learned a lot today.
    i found this very interesting.
none of my other teachers had pointed out what you said today.
    i defenately agree with this.

i think that this will affect us
because we now know what we need to improve,
and we also know that we need 100% participation.

  2. " A team is only as strong as its weakest link"
That weakest link could've been anybody. As we had not enough participation. We had say around 90%, but 90% isn't good enough. In order for us to build our reputation. Especially since we won the first pizza lunch of he year, and the fact that we only have the smallest class in grade 8, will raise our reputation higher.

  3. I've learned more about teamwork then I have learned with anyone else. Teamwork would mean for everyone to participate and work together to reach a goal.
Unlike other classes, that have won because of one or two people, we won because of practically all of us. I guess thats the definition of TEAM.

I think of each of us being like Terry, having a passion. And when someone has a deep passion for something, they will do anything. Terry Fox had a lot of determination for his hopes of ending cancer in Canada, so much that he was willing to run across Canada with an artifical leg.
In a team, If we all have a passion for the cause in another project, we will surely get 100% participation.

  4. I learned that teamwork is not teamwork without 100% participation.i think this will help us next time because i think everybody will participate because i think the people that had to be told to bring in money will bring it in next time without bing told.due to the fact that they now know what teamwork really is.

  5. @the sauce boss i like how you said a team is only as strong as its weakestpoint

  6. Its not only just about raising money its about participation.....
    Everyone needs to contribute...
Raising money is not a bad thing but being a WE is makes a smile people should no she or he didnt just raise money THEY raised money it shows that everyone cares about them....Yes them its not only one person who has cancer millions around the world has cancer

  7. i thought that what you had told us would make us remember this for generations that when we donate we don't just think of the possible benefit for us but the benefit for the fundraisers that do it for a good cause.

I agree with you that we shouldn't just think about ourselves for the time but for someone else.

This will affect our next team project because we learned a bunch for what we should try to achieve next time we do a project, but his time i believe we got a F.

  8. I think that what you said was very powerful and very true. I can't really believe that you already knew that we will fail in the beginning, but I don't really agree that it's either A+ or F, because sometimes it is better to do in the middle. But I do agree in the fact that we have to either do it or we don't. In this case I that we could of done it A+ but personally I think our grade is B+.

This will impact our next team project because we can compare this project with the next one to see how we can do better. For every one bad thing that we do is one more thing that we can improve on.

  9. @ sana
    that is very true.
    and tabish
what you said about the team being strong at its weakest link is well said.

and having a smaller class has its ups and downs.
for the forms, it was an advantage.
for terry fox, i think it was more of a disadvantage.
if we had a bigger class and raised $3 each, we would have more money.
but that isnt important about the amount of people.

    87 is the best.
we just have to prove it
    at our next fund raiser.

  10. I've learned a lot about teamwork after this fundraiser I always thought it was very simple but in the past years teachers have been pushing us and we've got used to it so we didn't really put much effort to it.

This will defiantly impact our next fundraiser because now we know what to do and we did know what to do before but we didn't do it, we're gonna do a lot better on the remaining fundraisers.

  11. @neha i like how you said not she or he raised money but how they raised money.due to the fact that teamwork is about everyone that is why there is a team in the word teamwork.

  12. @malav if people did not bring in money on there own what makes you think that we would not have to tell them to contribute to our next fundraiser.

  13. COULD SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT WE DID IN MATH AND IF WE HAVE ANY HOMEWORK.

    ReplyDelete
  14. @ sana i dont fully remember it but, i think that it was page 328 # 4, 5, and page 331# 3, 4 and 5.
we had to hand them in today and we never got any homework.

    ReplyDelete
  15. @ sana my bad. for page 328 its 4, 5 and 6

    ReplyDelete
  16. @ sana u dont need to confirm that, i wrote that in my planner and i checked it. it's right

    ReplyDelete
  17. i think no one has anything to say about terry fox because it didn't go has planned.

    ReplyDelete
  18. well i think we still did good because we all brought in money and we still got a prize for having all the students in class bring in money.but i will give it a if because some people were told to bring in money.which i don't think is teamwork because in team work someone should not have to tell u to do anything because that means they are telling you to do something.i don't find this team work because you should show teamwork and help your team.you should not be counting on your team i think that they should be counting on themself and the team

  19. Yes, very little comments, we indeed did do a good job, but I'm trying to take you past the simplistic understanding of teamwork and leadership.

    "off the island"

  20. @Sana thank you its because it makes sense if it were u i know u would want someone to help you cure ur cancer but u would also want people to no that u are suffering something that harms your life and you want to feel that they care for you its a big thing in life and it can cause u a whole life unless WE try if WE dont then how will there ever be a WE either be a NO ONE or a SHE/HE but thats not US we are a WE AND ARE ALWAYS SUPPOSE TO BE A WE.WE,WE,WE,WE,WE,WE,WE,WE,WE,WE,!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. @Mr Cheney we won’t be anything unless we try we take a stand we won’t be able to read in between the lines unless we know how it feels we need to understand how leadership, participation, qualification are going to be connected and brought somewhere farther than me
All i’m saying is there’s no such thing of me when it comes to helping there should always be a WE. I understand that in 1 world we say who cares that’s how we actually act but at times that’s not how we are suppose to be we are taught to be all this and that but do some of us actually do it ?? not really but the people that taught us did they do it???

    ReplyDelete
  22. @neha i agree with you because no one will care unless they know what it is like to get cancer.if they do i think they will change for caring about them self to start caring about "we".

    ReplyDelete
  23. we should change it from me to we to simplify what neha and i are trying to expaln.

    ReplyDelete
  24. @ Neha. Nope they didn't. The Human Race needs each generation to get better and better then the previous one. The challenge for you is not to be like society now, but rather be better. At the moment...we know whats right and wrong but too often don't work together like a team to make a difference.

  25. @mr cheney i agree with you because says wikipedia

Charitable Endeavors: Working together for a charitable cause builds teamwork and gives the participants a good feeling from working together. An example of a team charitable activity is planning and organizing an event like a walk or run to raise money or a bake sale that promotes a cause.

i agree to this because you told us that your last years class did not reach the goalthey for the food drive but then they experiance then the same thing as us but then at the end they reached there goal. This relate to us because i think this whole terry fox thing will impact us because we almost failed to reach our goal of 63 dallors.but we all learned that we need to have team work and cannot count on one person to bring in the money.we need to count all of us to bring in money. so next time we have fundraiser i think we will keep teamwork in mind and not count on one person but count onall of us.that is why i beleive that Teamwork is the concept of people working together cooperatively as a team in order to accomplish the same goals/objectives.

  26. @Sana thanks
Mr.Cheney oh i get it ok yea it makes sense

  27. @ sana
    you have a good point,
but i think that there will be
people who bring in money for the next fund raiser, and more people will start collecting too.
